  1. 16. Evolution of acetylcholine receptors and study of the anatomy of the mouse brain reward system

    Författare :Julia Pedersen; Dan Larhammar; Arnaud Chatonnet; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ventral Tegmental Area; Mesocorticolimbic system; Glutamate; Optogenetics; Histology; Acetylcholine; Receptor; Muscarininc; Nicotinic; G protein-coupled receptor; Gene duplication; Tetraploidization; Synteny; Paralogon; Ohnolog; Zebrafish; Spotted gar; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis work is divided in two parts. In the first part, I make use of the transgenic TRPV1-Cre mouse line as a tool to investigate the midbrain ventral tegmental area (VTA). LÄS MER

  2. 17. Evolutionary Genomics of Nematode-Trapping Fungi

    Författare :Tejashwari Meerupati; MEMEG; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nematode-trapping fungi; Comparative Genomics; Comparative Transcriptomics; Differential gene expression; Gene duplication; Parasitism; Protein family expansion.;

    Sammanfattning : Nematode-trapping fungi are ubiquitous, soil-living organisms with the ability to infect and kill nematodes. These fungi have developed specialized infection structures for the capture of nematodes. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Origin and the evolution of diatoms through the integration of paleontology and phylogenetics

    Författare :Karolina Brylka; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diatoms; evolution; fossil record; Cretaceous; molecular evolution; Mesozoic; silicon transporter proteins; gene duplication;

    Sammanfattning : Diatoms, the prominent photosynthetic eucaryotes, have inhabited the world’s oceans for at least the past 120 Ma since their first appearance in the Lower Cretaceous. There are also records of older diatoms, from the Jurassic dating to ca. 172 Ma and ca. 165 Ma, however these are poorly documented. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Genetic Studies of Alzheimer's Disease

    Författare :Elin Blom; Anna Glaser; Martin Ingelsson; Lars Lannfelt; Jan Hillert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alzheimer s disease; Linkage; Affected sib-pairs; APOE; APP duplication; 10q21; 19q13; Wnt signaling; Geriatrics and medical gerontology; Geriatrik och medicinsk gerontologi;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) often have a family history of the disease, implicating genetics as a major risk factor. Three genes are currently known to cause familial early-onset AD (65 years), only the APOE gene has repeatedly been associated to AD, where the ε4 allele increases disease risk and decreases age at onset. 5. 20. Sculpted through Time : Evolution and Function of Serine Proteases from the Mast Cell Chymase Locus

    Författare :Maike Gallwitz; Lars Hellman; Lars Pilström; Urban Gullberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Immunology; immune system; mast cell; chymase locus; serine protease; evolution; gene duplication; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Immune cells like NK cells, T cells, neutrophils and mast cells store high amounts of granule serine proteases, graspases. Graspases are encoded from the mast cell chymase locus. The human locus holds four genes: α-chymase, cathepsin G, and granzymes H and B. In contrast, the mouse locus contains at least 14 genes. LÄS MER
