  1. 1. Regulation of the exocrine pancreas in growing pigs, with special emphasis on entero-pancreatic reflexes

    Författare :Lena Evilevitch; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kidney bean lectin; Animal physiology; Djurfysiologi; duodenum; entero-pancreatic reflex; insulin; lipas; amylas; trypsin; weaning; development; maturation; inhibition; CCK-receptors; Exocrine pancreas; CCK; pig;

    Sammanfattning : The regulation of the exocrine pancreas has been under thorough investigation for many decades. In rats, cholecystokinin (CCK) is considered to be the major gut hormone stimulating the pancreas to releasing the digestive enzymes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Mucosal T-cell and cytokine responses in Helicobacter pylori-infected duodenal ulcer patients

    Författare :Erika Strömberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Helicobacter pylori; mucosal immunology; antrum; duodenum; duodenal ulcer; asymptomatic; epithelial cells; cytokines; T cells;

    Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori colonizes the human stomach and areas of gastric metaplasia in the duodenum. The bacterium is the major cause of chronic active gastritis and peptic ulcer disease and is a risk factor for the development of gastric adenocarcinoma and lymphoma. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Prevention of Postoperative Duodenal Ileus by COX-2 Inhibition Improves Duodenal Function in Anaesthetised Rats

    Författare :John Sedin; Olof Nylander; Markus Sjöblom; Lars Fändriks; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; duodenum; motility; enteric nervous system; luminal alkalinisation; CFTR; VIP; luminal Cl-; fluid secretion; solute absorption; mucosal permeability; 51Cr-EDTA; luminal osmolality; luminal hypertonicity; glucose; mannitol; orange juice; parecoxib; hexamethonium; mecamylamine; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Abdominal surgery inhibits gastrointestinal motility, a phenomenon referred to as postoperative ileus. Since the postoperative ileus disturbs duodenal physiology it is important to minimize the side effects of this condition. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Analysis of epithelial electrophysiological function in paediatric intestinal biopsies

    Författare :Annika Reims; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Cystic fibrosis; CFTR; coeliac disease; Ussing chamber; intestinal permeability; ion transport; leukotriene; human; duodenum;

    Sammanfattning : Intestinal biopsies are routinely taken from children under investigation of failure to thrive, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and/or malnutrition. These biopsies are usually only evaluated morphologically, i.e. no information is collected with regard to mucosal function. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Luminal Hypotonicity and Duodenal Functions : An Experimental Study in the Rat

    Författare :Liselotte Pihl; Olof Nylander; Gunnar Flemström; Mats Jodal; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Physiology; luminal alkalinization; mucosal permeability; osmolality; cyclooxygenase-2; rat; duodenum; jejunum; motility; enteric nervous system; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : After drinking water, the fluid quickly leaves the stomach thereby creating a hypotonic luminal environment in the duodenum. This in turn constitutes a potential threat to the integrity of the duodenal epithelium. It therefore seems highly likely that luminal hypotonicity activates physiological mechanisms that aim to increase luminal osmolality. LÄS MER
