1. Present and future precipitation variations in the source region of the Yangtze River, China
Sammanfattning : The source region of the Yangtze River (SRYR), the origin of the longest river in China, is an area with high-mountains and river ecotones that face considerable challenges under climate change. Precipitation is fundamental for sustainable ecosystems in this area and for the downstream water supplies. LÄS MER
2. Versatile Association Behavior in Mixtures of Oppositely Charged Amphiphiles : From DNA-Like Assembly of Supramolecular Helices to Coacervation in Chiral Surfactant Systems
Sammanfattning : As biological surfactants, bile salts (BSs), play important roles in biological processes, i.e., food digestion, but also in BS-related diseases, as well as in applications. LÄS MER

4. Surface complexation in natural particle suspensions
Sammanfattning : This thesis is a summary of our studies on (i) the proton and copper adsorption at aqueous illite surfaces, (ii) the proton and copper complexation of humic substances (fulvic acid FA and humic acid HA), (iii) the interaction between illite and fulvic acid, and (iv) the copper complexation behaviors in illite-FA bi-complexant systems. These particular studies were designed to help us develop a framework for modelling heavy metal complexation/adsorption mechanisms at natural particle surfaces. LÄS MER
5. Wireless Sensor Networks in Smart Cities : The Monitoring of Water Distribution Networks Case
Sammanfattning : The development of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is making it possible to monitor our cities. Due to the small size of the sensor nodes, and their capabilities of transmitting data remotely, they can be deployed at locations that are not easy or impossible to access, such as the pipelines of water distribution networks (WDNs), which plays an important role in protecting environment and securing public health.
