1. Hazards of Drug Therapy : On the Management of Adverse Drug Reactions: From Signal Detection and Evaluation to Risk Minimization
Sammanfattning : Spontaneous reporting systems (SRSs) for adverse drug reactions (ADRs) have been developed as a result of the thalidomide disaster, whereby thousands of children world-wide were born with birth defects. The Swedish Adverse Drug Reactions Advisory Committee was established in 1965. LÄS MER
2. Disarming bacteria : a structure-based approach to design an anti-virulence drug against Listeria monocytogenes
Sammanfattning : Antibiotic resistances are one of the biggest threats to global health and if we don’t change our behavior and way of using antibiotics we will end up in a ‘post-antibiotic era’, in which common infections and minor injuries can once kill again and up to 10 million deaths per year may occur by 2050. Therefore, there is a high need for new anti-bacterial drugs, especially of alternatives to existing antibiotics with already described resistances. LÄS MER
3. Class I Ribonucleotide Reductases : overall activity regulation, oligomerization, and drug targeting
Sammanfattning : Ribonucleotide reductase (RNR) is a key enzyme in the de novo biosynthesis and homeostatic maintenance of all four DNA building blocks by being able to make deoxyribonucleotides from the corresponding ribonucleotides. It is important for the cell to control the production of a balanced supply of the dNTPs to minimize misincorporations in DNA. LÄS MER
4. Growth hormone regulation of hepatic drug-metabolising enzymes in humans and rats
Sammanfattning : There are pronounced sex-differences in the gene expression of several liver enzymes in the rat. The sex-differentiated secretion of growth hormone (GH) regulates these differences. We wanted to further investigate the mechanisms of this regulation in rats and to study the GH regulation of drug metabolism in man. LÄS MER
5. Melanophore signaling : regulation and application
Sammanfattning : Melanophores are pigment-containing cells responsible for quick physiological color changes in lower vertebrates due to redistribution of melanosomes, pigment granules. We have studied melanophores from African clawed frog, Xenopus laevis. LÄS MER
