  1. 1. Drop Break-up in High-Pressure Homogenisers

    Författare :Fredrik Innings; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik; plasma; fluiddynamik; Gaser; plasmas; fluid dynamics; POD; Gases; PIV; Eddy; Flow; Jet; Milk; Break-up; Emulsion; Drop; Homogeniser;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this project was to investigate the drop break-up process in milk homogenisers. This was done by measurements and calculations of the flow fields in the gap region and by visualisation of drops being broken up. To make visualisation and measurements possible, two scale models of a homogeniser gap were developed. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Flow processing and gel formation for producing biopolymer drops with functional shapes and diffusion properties

    Författare :Bernhard Walther; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; drop deformation; 4-roll mill; biopolymer; agarose; shear; Kappa-carrageenan; elongation; microstructure; flow processing; drop-shaping; rheology; poly ethyleneglycol ; diffusion; gelatine; NMR; gel formation; TEM; flow channel;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the development of novel processes which combine flow-induced drop deformation and simultaneous temperature-induced gel formation in order to create shaped biopolymer drops. The drops are functional in terms of rheology and diffusion properties, factors strongly influencing the consistency of food products and flavour or drug release. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Scenarios of drop deformation and breakup in sprays

    Författare :Tímea Kékesi; Lisa Prahl Wittberg; Gustav Amberg; Mireia Altimira; Stéphane Zaleski; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Sprays are used in a wide range of engineering applications, in the food and pharmaceutical industry in order to produce certain materials in the desired powder-form, or in internal combustion engines where liquid fuel is injected and atomized in order to obtain the required air/fuel mixture. The optimization of such processes requires the detailed understanding of the breakup of liquid structures. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Monotonic and Cyclic Plastic Deformation of High-Strength Aluminium Alloys

    Författare :Magnus Hörnqvist Colliander; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Strain rate effects; Heat treatment; Dynamic strain ageing; Precipitation hardening; Low cycle fatigue; AA7030; Plastic deformation; Temperature effects; EN AW-7030; Al-Zn-Mg; Strain hardening; Mechanical properties; Dynamic precipitation.;

    Sammanfattning : Dynamic strain ageing (DSA) and dynamic precipitation (DP) are two, closely interrelated, phenomena arising from the dynamic interaction between mobile solute atoms and dislocations. The occurrence of DSA and DP is confined to specific ranges of strain rate and temperature, and aluminium alloys are generally prone to experience DSA and DP already at ambient temperatures and conventional strainrates. 5. 5. Oxygen Induced High Temperature Crack Growth in Ni-base Superalloys

    Författare :Leif Viskari; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Diffusion; Environmental influence; Crack growth; Atom probe tomography; Electron Microscopy; Deformation; Crack tip oxidation; Hold-time fatigue;

    Sammanfattning : Oxygen induced crack growth is a serious concern for the performance of Ni-base superalloys. These alloys are used in gas-turbine engines where they are exposed to hightemperatures, mechanical loads and oxygen-rich environments. LÄS MER
