6. Young Drivers and Their Passengers : Crash Risk and Group Processes
Sammanfattning : The overall aim was to elucidate the effects of vehicle passengers on young drivers. This generated two specific aims and four papers. The first aim was to investigate the crash risk for young drivers with passengers and to establish whether such accidents involve any special circumstances compared to those that occur without passengers. 7. Understanding Subgroups of Novice Drivers : A Basis for Increased Safety and Health
Sammanfattning : Every year, drivers throughout the world are killed or injured in road traffic, particularly in developing countries. Young drivers run a greater risk everywhere, and this problem is still largely unsolved. Better understanding of the underlying processes could, however, be a useful tool in preventive endeavours. 8. Plant-associated soil communities : Patterns, drivers and aboveground consequences
Sammanfattning : Soil contains a wealth of diversity – bacteria, fungi, nematodes, arthropods and earthworms are just some of the many organisms found belowground. These organisms play an important role in shaping the soil environment and they strongly influence plant fitness, diversity and community composition. LÄS MER
9. Palaeoenvironmental changes in the northern boreal zone of Finland: local versus regional drivers
Sammanfattning : Multiple proxies derived from the Lake Loitsana sediment sequence (NE Finland) are employed to determine the timing of deglaciation, characterise an early Holocene proglacial lake stage and reconstruct Holocene lake development. Local-scale processes causing shifts in biological assemblages are identified and the most likely Holocene mean July air temperature (Tjul) development is assessed. LÄS MER
10. Non-State Participation in International Organizations : Patterns, Drivers, and Consequences
Sammanfattning : Over recent decades, one of the most prominent developments in global governance has been the expanded involvement of non-state actors (NSAs) in the policy-making bodies of international organizations (IOs). This trend is expected to have positive implications for democracy and effectiveness in global governance by improving participation, accountability, and representation, and by allowing IOs to draw on NSA resources to improve policy-making.
