  1. 16. Studies of a Heavy-Duty Diesel Aftertreatment System Based on the NOX Storage and Reduction Technology

    Författare :Klaus Papadakis; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fuel penalty; injection parameters; DoE; design of experiments; exhaust; diesel engine; NO oxidation; simulation; modelling; oxidation catalyst; NOX trap; NOX storage and reduction; NSR; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi; Chemical technology and engineering; dosing strategy; system optimisation;

    Sammanfattning : The legislative limits for NOX emissions in the exhaust gas from heavy-duty diesel engines will be decreased in the European Union from today 3.5 g/kWh (Euro IV) to 2.0 g/kWh in 2008 (Euro V). In the USA and Japan a similar trend can be seen. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Aspects on optimisation of High Dose Methotrexate treatment in children with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia

    Författare :Peter Jönsson; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; high dose methotrexate; exposure; dosing algorithms; renal function; cerebrospinal fluid; childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia; population pharmacokinetics; relapse risk;

    Sammanfattning : Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) has a unique place in the history of oncology, as it was the first cancer to be cured by drugs. It is therefore an important model upon which concepts of chemotherapy in other malignancies have been developed. Methotrexate is a major component of most contemporary childhood ALL treatment protocols. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Pharmacokinetic dosing of factor VIII and factor IX in prophylactic treatment of haemophilia

    Författare :Maj Carlsson; Malmö Klinisk koagulationsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Haematology; Prophylaxis; Pharmacokinetics; Pharmaceutical service; Haemophilia B; Haemophilia A; Factor IX; Factor VIII; Drug distribution; Cost-effectiveness; Dosage; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis was to increase cost-effectiveness in prophylactic treatment of haemophilia. Prophylaxis is effective to prevent bleedings and arthropathy, but the high cost limits its use. First, a new distribution system for clotting factor concentrates was implemented in Sweden to improve availability and reduce risks and costs. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Individually Tailored Toxicity-based Chemotherapy : Studies on Patients with Primary and Metastatic Breast Cancer

    Författare :Henrik Lindman; Jonas Bergh; Carl Blomqvist; Peter Nygren; Bo Nordenskjöld; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; breast cancer; tailored chemotherapy; toxicity-based dosing; high-dose therapy; MR imaging; G-CSF; epirubicin; docetaxel; cyclophosphamide; 5-fluorouracil; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Standard dosing of chemotherapy based on body surface area (BSA) results in large individual differences in toxicity due to a large inter-patient variability in pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD). This results in under-dosing in certain patients with a potentially weaker antitumoral effect. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Biological and Pharmacological Factor that Influence the Selection of Antibiotic Resistance

    Författare :Ingegerd Gustafsson; Otto Cars; Niels Frimodt-Möller; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microbiology; Human microflora; antibiotic resistance; selection; mutation frequency; biological fitness; pharmacokinetics; pharmacodynamics; β-lactam antibiotics; suboptimal dosing regimen; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi; Klinisk bakteriologi; Clinical Bacteriology;

    Sammanfattning : Antibiotic treatment causes an ecological disturbance on the human microflora. Four commensal bacteria: E. coli, enterococci, a-streptococci and coagulase-negative staphylococci, from patients with extensive, high antibiotic usage were investigated with regard to resistance pattern and mutation frequency.
