  1. 1. 3D printing of lipid-based formulations into personalized solid oral dosage forms

    Författare :Jenny Johannesson; Christel Bergström; Alexandra Teleki; Mattias Paulsson; Maria Strömme; Abdul Basit; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; poorly water-soluble drug; lipid-based formulation; Pickering emulsion; emulsion gel; semi-solid extrusion; 3D printing; lipid tablet; personalized dosage form; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : The pharmaceutical development process starts with patient populations and their unmet therapeutic needs. Traditional pharmaceutical manufacturing of solid oral dosage forms is based on the strategy of one-size-fits-all. This is problematic, especially for patient populations with high patient-to-patient variability, as in pediatrics. LÄS MER

  2. 2. New Concepts in Administration of Drugs in Tablet Form : Formulation and Evaluation of a Sublingual Tablet for Rapid Absorption, and Presentation of an Individualised Dose Administration System

    Författare :Susanne Bredenberg; Christer Nyström; Carla Caramella; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutics; Interactive mixture; Dose homogeneity; Disintegration; Bioadhesion; Oromucosal delivery; Sublingual tablet; Rapid absorption; Individual dosage; Drug dispensing device; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents two new concepts in oral drug administration and the results of evaluation of some relevant formulation factors.Investigation into improving the homogeneity of mixtures for tableting indicated that it may be possible to obtain interactive dry mixtures of micronised drugs containing drug proportions as low as 0.015% w/w. 3. 3. Safety of Medication in Paediatrics

    Författare :Kristina Star; Karin Nordin; I Ralph Edwards; Richard Irvin Cook; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :paediatrics; adverse drug reaction; drug-related problem; medication error; patient safety; individual case safety reports; pharmacovigilance; medication; nurses; health care personnel; dosage form; NSAID; dosing; prescription; antipsychotic medicines; postmarketing surveillance; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Background: In paediatrics, the limited documentation to guide medication, the lack of suitable dosage forms, and the continuous development in childhood present a scenario where safety of medication is a particular challenge.Aim: To explore reported adverse drug reactions (ADRs) and the challenges in prescribing and administering medicines in paediatrics, in order to identify and suggest areas needing international surveillance within medication safety and improvement in the clinical setting. Sammanfattning : Ceramics are distinguished from metals and polymers by their inorganic nature and lack of metallic properties. They can be highly crystalline to amorphous, and their physical and chemical properties can vary widely. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Furosemide dosage input : consequences for diuretic effect, tolerance and efficiency

    Författare :Monique Wakelkamp; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :furosemide; drug input rate; pharmacokinetics; pharmacodynamics; tolerance; efficiency; probenecid;

    Sammanfattning : The development of new dosage forms raises the question of how the pharmacokinetic pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) profile of a drug is influenced by the drug input rate. Furosemide was used as a model drug to study the relationship between drug input rate and effect. LÄS MER
