  1. 1. PET applications in schizophrenia : Functional and pharmacological dopamine studies

    Författare :Ola Gefvert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; Schizophrenia; PET; dopamine synthesis rate; dopamine D2 receptor occupancy; atypical antipsychotics; quetiapine; risperidone microsphere depot; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi; Psychiatry; psykiatri;

    Sammanfattning : Schizophrenia is a group of disorders with a worldwide lifetime prevalence of 0.85%. Thefunctional outcome of the disorder seem stable from the first systematic outcome studies to thepresent day, and vary only with changes in diagnostic criteria. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Depot neuroleptic maintenance treatment: clinical, pharmacological and neuropsychological aspects

    Författare :Eva Tuninger; Lund Psykiatri; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; clinical psychology; Psychiatry; laterality.; chronic psychosis; schizophrenia; outcome; maintenance treatment; follow-up; longitudinal; neuropsychology; SPECT; auditory hallucinations; dopamine receptor occupancy; psychosomatics; Psykiatri; klinisk psykologi; psykosomatik;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroleptic maintenance treatment is effective to reduce the risk of further episodes of schizophrenia and other chronic psychoses, except affective. Lack of insight often lead to poor compliance to the prescripted medication. Then, neuroleptics might be given as depot injections. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Positron emission tomography studies of the D1-dopamine receptor in schizophrenia

    Författare :Per Stenkrona; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on investigations of central D1-dopamine receptor (D1R) binding in vivo using positron emission tomography (PET). The aims were i) to examine the antipsychotic effect of a D1R antagonist in schizophrenia and ii) to test the dopamine hypothesis of schizophrenia by comparing D1R binding between patients and healthy subjects. 4. 4. Dopamine D2 receptor pharmacology : in vitro analyses and in vivo pet imaging

    Författare :Mette Skinbjerg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The goals of the present thesis were to study high affinity agonist binding at the D2 dopamine receptor and to explore the role of agonist induced internalization of the receptor in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging studies. For this purpose, we combined in vitro studies of radioligand binding and receptor internalization with in vivo studies in rodents using PET. LÄS MER

  5. 5. In vivo quantification of extrastriatal dopamine D2 receptors in the human brain

    Författare :Hans Olsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :FLB 457; positron emission tomography; pituitary; receptor density; affinity; benzamide; Scatchard; saturation; receptor occupancy;

    Sammanfattning : The dopamine D2 receptor subtype attracts considerable attention in research on the patophysiology and drug treatment of several neuropsychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia and Parkinson's disease. The brain imaging technology Positron Emission Tomography (PET) has since long allowed for reliable quantification of the high density of dopamine D2 receptors in large brain structures such as the neostriatum.
