  1. 11. Exploring Brain Gene Expression i Animal Models of Behaviour

    Författare :Julia Lindberg; Elena Jazin; Peter Saetre; Jonathan Flint; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biology; behavioural genetics; gene expression; brain; microarray analysis; domestication; animal model; haem; Canis familiaris; Vulpes vulpes; Mus musculus; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : The genetic basis for behavioural traits is largely unknown. The overall aim of this thesis was to find genes with importance for behavioural traits related to fear and anxiety. Microarray analysis was used to screen expression profiles of brain regions important for emotional behaviour in dogs, wolves, foxes and mice. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Genomics of chicken domestication and feralisation

    Författare :Martin Johnsson; Dominic Wright; Per Jensen; Dirk-Jan de Koning; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Domestication can serve as a study system of rapid evolutionary change with wide-ranging effects on traits in animals. The chicken was domesticated from the Red Junglefowl and has diverged in behaviour, morphology and life history traits. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Domestication and early experiences in chickens : Behavior, stress and gene expression

    Författare :Pia Katrine Løtvedt; Per Jensen; Jordi Altimiras; Emma Brunberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : A number of animal species have undergone domestication, the process of becoming adapted to living in captivity and in proximity to humans. Common for these species is that they have all developed certain traits, including changes to coat color, body size and level of fearfulness. This has been termed the domestic phenotype. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Effects of domestication related genes on behaviour, physiology and gene expression in chickens

    Författare :Anna-Carin Karlsson; Per Jensen; Randi Oppermann Moe; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Domestication, the process when animals adapt to captivity, tends to modify a whole array of traits towards what has been termed “the domesticated phenotype”, where the domesticated animal differs from its wild ancestor in morphology, physiology, development and behaviour. Physiological traits and behaviours are controlled by genes. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Early Experience, Maternal Care and Behavioural Test Design : Effects on the Temperament of Military Working Dogs

    Författare :Pernilla Foyer; Per Jensen; Martin Norsell; Daniel Mills; Försvarshögskolan; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Early experience; Maternal care; Dog; Military Working Dog; Behaviour; Temperament test; Stress; Försvarssystem; Military Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Domestication has resulted in animals with broad variations between as well as within breeds, which allows for the selection and breeding of animals for preferred traits. This selection has affected both the genotypes and phenotypes of animals. LÄS MER
