16. Echocardiographic methods for assessment of coronary artery disease
Sammanfattning : Upright bicycle exercise echocardiography with digital image acquisition in seated position during exercise and in recumbent position before and immediately after exercise was performed in 66 men, one month after an episode of unstable coronary arte1y disease. It was difficult to obtain images of adequate quality during exercise but new or worsening of wall motion abnormalities not seen in recumbent position after exercise were detected at peak-exercise in patients with good image quality. 17. Myocardial Effects of Type 2 Diabetes, Co-morbidities, and Changing Loading Conditions : a Clinical Study by Tissue Velocity Echocardiography
Sammanfattning : Ever since the validation of the tissue velocity echocardiography (TVE) technique more than a decade ago the modality has been used rather successfully in various clinical situations, at rest as well as during stress echocardiography. Hitherto, dobutamine stress echocardiography has been the hallmark of all forms of stress procedures, now with TVE, quantification of the longitudinal motions of the left ventricle shows far superiority, with improved sensitivity and specificity in the functional diagnosis of coronary artery disease. 18. The small intestine in experimental peritonitis : An experimental study focusing om intestinal energy metabolism, bacterial translocation and mucosal immunology
Sammanfattning : The gut is highly susceptible to injury during sepsis. An impaired mucosal barrier permitstranslocation of enteric microorganisms to blood or other organs. In a porcine model sepsiswas induced by faecal peritonitis. LÄS MER
19. Cardiac electrophysiologic effects of mental stress
Sammanfattning : Background: Mental stress may trigger serious arrhythmias. Mental stress tests cause significant increases in heart rate, blood pressure and cardiac output. When beta-adrenergic inhibition is considered for secondary antiarrhythmic prophylaxis beta1 selective agents are often preferred because of less adverse reactions. LÄS MER
20. Goal-directed fluid therapy during major abdominal surgery
Sammanfattning : Background: Both hypo- and hypervolemia increase the risk for postoperative complications after major abdominal surgery. Fluid needs vary amongst patients depending on differences in preoperative dehydration, intraoperative physiology and surgical characteristics. LÄS MER
