21. Nanostructured surfaces created by the interactions of dendrimers and oppositely charged amphiphiles
Sammanfattning : The research described in this thesis aims to understand the interactions between cationic poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimers and small oppositely charged amphiphiles at the solid-liquid and air-liquid interfaces in relation to the bulk solution behavior. There is high interest in PAMAM dendrimers because they are well-defined polymers with a hierarchical architecture which makes them promising materials as nanocapsules and gene vectors. LÄS MER
22. DNA Electrophoresis in Polymer Solutions. Separation Mechanisms studied by Fluorescence and Linear Dichroism Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Capillary electrophoresis of DNA in polymer solutions is a promising technique for separation of DNA molecules according to size. The primary aim of the work presented in this thesis was to get a better understanding of the electrophoretic separation mechanism in these media by studying the DNA migration behavior during electrophoresis in both entangled and non-entangled polymer solutions using linear dichroism spectroscopy and fluorescence video microscopy. 23. Visual and magnetic detection of antimicrobial resistance genes using nanoparticles and isothermal amplification
Sammanfattning : Antibiotic resistance is becoming an increasing concern, necessitating new ways to diagnose and treat it rapidly and accurately. One proposed solution is the use of nucleic acid amplification tests, capable of detecting resistance in just a few hours, as opposed to the several days that traditional testing methods may require. 24. Visualizing Interacting Biomolecules In Situ
Sammanfattning : Intra- and intercellular information is communicated by posttranslational modifications (PTMs) and protein-protein interactions, transducing information over cell membranes and to the nucleus. A cells capability to respond to stimuli by several highly complex and dynamic signaling networks provides the basis for rapid responses and is fundamental for the cellular collaborations required in a multicellular organism. 25. Development of an Ultrasensitive Capacitive DNA-sensor: A promising tool towards microbial diagnostics
Sammanfattning : Fast and sensitive detection of pathogenic microbial cells is a highly important task in medical diagnostics, environmental analysis and evaluation of food safety. Accordingly, the idea of microorganism identification by the recognition of specific DNA sequence using electrochemical technique is one of the leading researches in the development of diagnostic devices.
