  1. 1. Ontogeny and Population Biology of a Sex-Limited Colour Polymorphism

    Författare :Jessica Abbott; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; embryologi; ontogeni; animal morphology; embryology; Utvecklingsbiologi; Damselflies; Colour polymorphism; Development; Frequency-dependence; Morphology; growth animal ; ontogeny; Animal anatomy; Development biology; Djurs anatomi och morfologi; Population divergence; Animal ecology; Djurekologi;

    Sammanfattning : This study has involved investigation of number of populations of the damselfly Ischnura elegans over several years, looking at frequency changes over time, morphological differences between the sexes and the morphs, differences in growth rate and development time, differences in fecundity between the morphs, and genetic differentiation between populations. 2. 2. On enchytraeids and naidids: Life history traits and responses to environmental stress

    Författare :Anna-Karin Augustsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; oligochaeta; terrestrial naididae; toxicity testing; asexual reproduction; sexual reproduction; drought; environmental stress; metal pollution; Ekologi; Animal ecology; Djurekologi;

    Sammanfattning : My thesis shows that enchytraeids and naidids are sensitive to various forms of environmental stress, which in combination with the wide distribution of both families make them highly suitable for use in risk assessment and soil monitoring. Enchytraeids were subject to chemical stress under both laboratory and field conditions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Behaviour of Lycaenid butterfly larvae in their mutualistic interactions with ants

    Författare :Annkristin H. Axén; Judith L. Bronstein; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fjärilar; myror; djurekologi; etologi; Ethology;

    Sammanfattning : Interspecific mutualism often involves partners trading different kinds of services. The cost and benefits of the trade may differ from one interaction to the next, or fluctuate over time in a single interaction, due to factors both internal and external to the mutualism itself. 4. 4. Ecology and conservation of the moth Dysauxes ancilla

    Författare :Per-Eric Betzholtz; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Animal ecology; Djurekologi; marc-recapture; population viability; fluctuating asymmetry; genetic status; larval feeding; movements; endangered species; conservation; outpost population; Lepidoptera; Dysauxes ancilla;

    Sammanfattning : The ecology of the moth Dysauxes ancilla was studied in the only Swedish breeding area at Beijershamn, situated on the Baltic island of Öland. The population is a northern outpost, separated from the species´ continous distribution area in middle- and southeast Europe. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Ecology of red admiral migration

    Författare :Oskar Brattström; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nymphalidae; Lepidoptera; migration patterns; migration; genetic structure; AFLP; lipid content; Inachis io; stable isotopes; orientation; navigation; weather; Animal ecology; red admiral; Vanessa atalanta; Djurekologi;

    Sammanfattning : The red admiral (Vanessa atalanta) is a migratory butterfly that can be found in North America, North Africa, Europe and some parts of Asia. In Europe the main part of the population spend winter in the Mediterranean region and the following spring leave this area to breed further to the north. LÄS MER
