The purpose of the dissertation is to examine the processes by which certain animals are made into food, and how power structures between humans and animals are maintained or challenged in Swedish organic organizations. 3. From Betterment to Bt maize : agricultural development and the introduction of genetically modified maize to South African smallholders
Sammanfattning : Agriculture has received renewed attention in poverty reduction efforts in Africa in recent years, and there are hopes that GM crops could have an important role in helping increase smallholder yields and reduce poverty. Drawing on critical discourse analysis (CDA) and livelihoods perspectives, this thesis examines the ideas governing the Massive Food Production Programme (MFPP), an agricultural development programme aiming to reduce poverty by raising agricultural production in Eastern Cape Province, South Africa, and its local effects when implemented in smallholder communities. Sammanfattning : Forskning visar att djur kan ge socialt och emotionellt stöd till barn och ungdomar med autism men få studier har undersökt husdjurens betydelse för barnens utveckling eller betydelsen av att inkludera natur och djur i en längre samspelsbehandling. Syftet med avhandlingen är att beskriva och förklara på vilka sätt som natur och djur kan tillföra värden som underlättar för gruppens psykologiska utveckling. LÄS MER
