One such class of cues, morphogens, instruct cells in their identity by virtue of a concentration gradient, but how this is interpreted at gene regulatory levels to result in sharp and robust boundaries of gene expression is poorly understood. Studies suggest that facilitation of income diversification contributes to mitigation and even prevention of trap situations as it reduces exploitation pressure while at the same time makes the households’ livelihood more resilient.
