1. Designing Electricity Distribution Network Charges for an Efficient Integration of Distributed Energy Resources and Customer Response
Sammanfattning : A significant transformation has been gradually taking place within the energy sector, mainly as a result of energy policies targeting environmental objectives. Consequently, the penetration of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) has been escalating, including self-generation, demand side management, storage, and electrical vehicles. LÄS MER
2. Exploiting the Synergies from Coupled Electricity and Heat Distribution Networks : Modelling, simulation and optimization based on an extended energy hub approach
Sammanfattning : Recent literature shows that there is a significant potential of decarbonisation and efficiency improvement that can be achieved through the synergy from multi-energy systems (MESs). Coupling technologies, such as co-generation plants, heat pumps and thermal storages are widely recommended as means of unlocking additional flexibility and increasing the penetration of renewables in the heating and electricity sectors. 3. Benefits of Coordinating Plug-In Electric Vehicles in Electric Power Systems : Through Market Prices and Use-of-System Network Charges
Sammanfattning : Both electric power systems and the transportation sector are essential constituents to modern life, enhancing social welfare, enabling economic prosperity and ultimately providing well-being to the people. However, to mitigate adverse climatological effects of emitting greenhouse gases, a rigorous de-carbonization of both industries has been set on the political agenda in many parts of the world. 4. Interaction Between Microgels and Oppositely Charged Proteins
Sammanfattning : This thesis reports on interactions between microgels and oppositely charged proteins. Two types of negatively charged microgels are investigated: poly(acrylic acid) microgels of 60-80 µm in diameter, and colloidal poly(NIPAM-co-acrylic acid) microgels of around 1 µm in diameter. 5. Distributional Side Effects of Tax Policies: An Analysis of Tax Avoidance and Congestion Tolls
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of three self-contained essays.Essay 1This essay examines the effects of tax avoidance on saving and income distribution. In an intertemporal model taxes can be avoided through asset trade. We find that including an avoidance response to taxation will increase all the negative distortions of increased tax progressivity.
