6. Formation and Decomposition of Platinum–Thallium Bond, Kinetics and Mechanism. Structural Characterization of Some Metal Cyanides in the Solid State
Sammanfattning : The kinetic and mechanistic features of a new series ofplatinum-thallium cyano compounds containing a direct andunsupported by ligands metal-metal bond have been studied insolution, using standard mixandmeasurespectrophotometric technique and stoppedflow method. These reactions are interpreted as oxidative addition of the cspecies to the square planar Pt(CN)42-complex. 7. Cellulose Dissolution and Amphiphilicity : Insights on the Emulsion Formation and Stabilization
Sammanfattning : An amphiphilic polymer is expected to adsorb at the oil-water interface and be capable of stabilizing emulsions. Cellulose derivatives, cellulose nanoparticles and regenerated cellulose particles show an intrinsic amphiphilic character by self-assembling at oil-water interfaces and stabilizing emulsions without the aid of surfactants or any other co-stabilizers. 8. Adsorption of nonionic amphiphiles to solid surfaces
Sammanfattning : In this study, the adsorption of nonionic amphiphiles from aqueous solutions to solid, planar surfaces is investigated using null ellipsometry. This technique allows independent measurements of the amounts adsorbed at the surface and of the mean optical thickness of the adsorbed layer. LÄS MER
9. Towards the Improvement of Salt Extraction from Lake Katwe Raw Materials in Uganda
Sammanfattning : Uganda is well endowed with economic quantities of mineral salts present in the interstitial brines and evaporite deposits of Lake Katwe, a closed (endorheic) saline lake located in the western branch of the great East African rift valley. Currently, rudimentally and artisanal methods continue to be used for salt extraction from the lake raw materials. LÄS MER
10. Passivation of Austenitic Stainless Steel
Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis is to study the corrosion resistance and passivation of high alloyed austenitic stainless steels exposed to hydrochloric acid. The introductory section gives a background to the subject; electrochemical measurements and surface analysis by the ESCA-technique (Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis). LÄS MER
