16. Fragment Based Drug Discovery with Surface Plasmon Resonance Technology
Sammanfattning : Fragment based drug discovery (FBDD) has been applied to two protease drug targets, MMP-12 and HIV-1 protease. The primary screening and characterization of hit fragments were performed with surface plasmon resonance -technology. Further evaluation of the interaction was done by inhibition studies and in one case with X-ray crystallography. LÄS MER
17. Determinants of peptidyl-tRNA drop-off from E. coli Ribosomes : Effects of antibiotics, mutations and translation factors
Sammanfattning : During protein synthesis, some peptidyl-tRNA molecules dissociate from the ribosomes and become hydrolysed by peptidyl-tRNA hydrolase (Pth). Two different in vitro systems, poly(U) and natural mRNA programmed ribosomes, have been used in order to determine dissociation (drop-off) rates of deacylated- and peptidyl-tRNAs from different sites on ribosomes. 18. Dissociative Adsorption of CO2 on Copper: The Role of Steps
Sammanfattning : CO2 chemistry has received significant interest in recent time, due to the greenhouse effects of CO2 emissions and the resulting climate change. CO2 reduction reactions, such as methanol synthesis and reverse water-gas shift, is providing a route for recycling of CO2 and thus limiting the CO2 emissions. LÄS MER
19. Functional studies of E. coli ribosomes and characterization of mini open reading frames
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, problems concerning the elongation, termination and recycling steps of prokaryotic translation have been addressed. An explanation is given for growth inhibition due to minigene expression.Minigene transcripts containing very short open reading frames inhibit proteinsynthesis in E. 20. DNA Interaction Dynamics of Ruthenium(II) Complexes
Sammanfattning : DNA-binding of small synthetic ligands is of great importance in a number of different applications, from medicine to molecular biology. This thesis focuses on interactions between DNA and ruthenium(II) complexes, in particular the dimers [µ-bidppz(L)4Ru2]4+ (L=1,10-phenanthroline (P) or L=2,2-bipyridine (B)). LÄS MER
