  1. 1. Computational studies of nickel catalysed reactions relevant for hydrocarbon gasification

    Författare :Abas Mohsenzadeh; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :DFT; H2O; CO; adsorption; dissociation; formyl; hydrocarbon combustion; hydrocarbon synthesis; water gas shift; gasification; Ni 111 ; Ni 110 ; Ni 100 ; Resursåtervinning; Resource Recovery;

    Sammanfattning : Sustainable energy sources are of great importance, and will become even more important in the future. Gasification of biomass is an important process for utilization of biomass, as a renewable energy carrier, to produce fuels and chemicals. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Molecular Recognition in Antibody Engineering. Studies on recombinant and phage displayed antibodies

    Författare :Ann-Christin Malmborg Hager; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; affinity; antibody; kinetic; Immunologi; serologi; serology; Immunology; Bioteknik; Biotechnology; library; selection; surface display; phage display; association rate; dissociation rate;

    Sammanfattning : In vitro generation of antibody fragments of desired specificity and affinity plays an important role since it permits the generation of reagents which may be valuable for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Furthermore, the kinetic parameters for an antibody-antigen interaction, rather than the affinity, has shown to correlate with biological functions like virus neutralization. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Chromatographic Studies of Solute Interactions with Immobilized Red Blood Cells and Biomembranes

    Författare :Ingo Gottschalk; Irving W. Wainer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Affinity; Binding; Biomembrane; Biotin; Chromatography; Cytochalasin B; Dissociation constant; Drug absorption; Equilibrium; Glucose; GLUT1; Immobilization; Immobilized biomembrane affinity chromatography; Immobilized liposome chromatography; Interaction; Liposome; Membrane protein; Membrane vesicle; Partitioning; Phospholipid bilayer; Proteoliposome; Quantitative; Red blood cell; Solute; Specific; Streptavidin; Wheat germ agglutinin; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Specific and non-specific interactions of solutes with immobilized biomembranes were studied using chromatographic methods. Liposomes, proteoliposomes and red blood cell (RBC) membrane vesicles were immobilized by a freeze-thawing procedure, whereas whole RBCs were adsorbed in the gel beds using electrostatic interaction, binding to wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) or the streptavidin-biotin interaction.     Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Affinity; Aromatic amino acids; Binding; Biomembrane; Biotin; Chromatography; Cytochalasin B; Dihydrocytochalasin B; Dissociation constant; Drug absorption; Ethanol; Equilibrium; Glucose; GLUT1; Immobilization; Immobilized biomembrane affinity chromatography; Immobilized liposome chromatography; Interaction; Liposome; Membrane protein; Membrane vesicle; Partitioning; Phospholipid bilayer; Proteoliposome; Quantitative; Red blood cell; Specific; Streptavidin; Tyrosine; Tryptophan; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The human glucose transporter GLUT1 is abundant in red blood cells, the blood-brain barrier and epithelial cells, where it mediates the transport of the energy metabolite, glucose. In the present work some properties of GLUT1, including affinity binding of both substrates and inhibitors, transport rates as well as permeabilities of aromatic amino acids and drug-membrane interactions were analyzed by chromatographic methods. 5. 5. Protein mass spectrometry in the drug discovery process

    Författare :Agneta Tjernberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Mass spectrometry; ESI-MS; MALDI-TOF MS; drug discovery; protein characterization; dissociation constants;

    Sammanfattning : Most targets for drug discovery are proteins. Drug discovery includes target identification and validation, structural biology, lead generation, lead optimisation, pre-clinical development and clinical trials. The overall aim of this thesis is to apply protein mass spectrometry (MS) in the early drug discovery process. LÄS MER
