    Sammanfattning : Medium carbon low alloyed tool steels are used today in various areas to shape plastics, nonferrous metals, and steels, and they are crucial in the manufacturing industry. To be effective, tool steels must be strong and tough, and have high wear resistance and temperature stability. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Alloy element redistribution during sintering of powder metallurgy steels

    Författare :Abdul Malik Tahir; Gustav Amberg; Jose Manuel Torralba; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cu redistribution kinetics; diffusion; phase field modeling; powder metallurgy; swelling; liquid phase sintering; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Homogenization of alloying elements is desired during sintering of powder metallurgy components. The redistribution processes such as penetration of liquid phase into the interparticle/grain boundaries of solid particles and subsequent solid-state  diffusion of alloy element(s) in the base powder, are important for the effective homogenization of alloy element(s) during liquid phase sintering of the mixed powders. 4. 19. Non-metallic inclusions in pipeline steels and their effect on the corrosion resistance

    Författare :Elena Sidorova; Andrey Karasev; Pär Jönsson; Lauri Holappa; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pipeline steels; Ca-treatment; non-metallic inclusions; electrolytic extraction; corrosion; chemical extraction; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning :  This thesis focus on investigations of the influence of non-metallic inclusions on corrosion in steel samples taken at different stages of the steel production when producing pipeline steels. The electrolytic extraction technique was used to extract inclusions from these steel samples and thereafter studying them using scanning electron microscopy in combination with energy dispersive microscopy. 5. 20. Evaluations of Non-metallic Inclusionsin Ca-treated Steels and Their Effect on the Machinability

    Författare :Hongying Du; Andrey Karasev; Pär Jönsson; Lauri Holappa; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; non-metallic inclusions; Ca treatment; stainless steel; machinability.; icke-metalliska inneslutningar; kalciumbehandling; rostfritt stål; skärbarhet.; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : In recent decades, a considerable development of steel with respect to the performance of steel has taken place, which also has resulted in large challenges to process these steel grades. Therefore, it is essential to make suitable modifications of non-metallic inclusions (NMI) in the steelmaking process and to have a good control of its characteristics to meet the target mechanical properties and to obtain a good machinability.
