1. Nonlinear Characterization of Wideband Microwave Devices and Dispersive Effects in GaN HEMTs
Sammanfattning : Measurements play a key role in the development of microwave hardware as they allow engineers to test and verify the RF performance on a system, circuit, and component level. Since modern cellular standards employ complex modulation formats with wider signal bandwidths to cope with the growing demand of higher datarates, nonlinear characterization using wideband stimuli is becoming increasingly important. 2. Relaxation and Resonance in Brownian Motion-Coupled Resonators
Sammanfattning : In physics, there exists a number of paradigm systems – exactly solvable models that can represent a wide variety of physical realizations. My research is concerned with two of these paradigm systems: the harmonic oscillator and Brownian motion. LÄS MER
3. The growth of waves by wind as a problem in nonequilibrium statistical mechanics
Sammanfattning : In 1948, Casimir predicted a net attractive force between two perfectly conducting parallel plates due to electromagnetic vacuum fluctuations. By analogy, the interaction of two ships on a wavy sea has been named Maritime Casimir effect. This is an example of force generation in non-equilibrium systems. LÄS MER
4. Alfvén Waves and Energy Transformation in Space Plasmas
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on the role of Alfvén waves in the energy transformation and transport in the magnetosphere. Different aspects of Alfvén wave generation, propagation and dissipation are considered. The study involves analysis of experimental data from the Freja, Polar and Cluster spacecraft, as well as theoretical development. LÄS MER
5. The Josephson parametric oscillator - From microscopic studies to single-shot qubit readout
Sammanfattning : Circuit quantum electrodynamics (cQED) is a prominent platform for quantum information processing, in which microwave photons are confined into resonant cavities coupled to superconducting quantum bits (qubits). The large effective dipole moment of the qubit, in combination with the high energy density of the quasi 1-D resonator allow these systems to enter the so-called strong coupling regime. LÄS MER
