21. Fragmented landscapes : Assessment and communication of landscape connectivity in human-dominated landscapes
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis summarizes the first half of my PhD on the theme of management of fragmented landscapes. The thesis applies – and reflects on the use of – network analysis of connectivity in relation to landscape planning. LÄS MER
22. Round goby invasion of the Baltic Sea : the role of phenotypic variation
Sammanfattning : Biological invasions are a major threat to biodiversity world wide with annual economic costs up to 1.4 trillion dollars. The round goby (Neogobius melanostomus) is a particularly fierce invader that threatens ecological function of the Baltic Sea. LÄS MER
23. Francisella tularensis: persistence, dissemination and source attribution : a theoretical and computational approach
Sammanfattning : The bacterium Francisella tularensis causing tularemia in humans and other mammals displays little genetic diversity among genomes across temporal and spatial scales. F. tularensis infects humans with an extremely low infectious dose and causes natural seasonal tularemia outbreaks. LÄS MER
24. Impact of Geographical and Environmental Structures on Habitat Choice, Metapopulation Dynamics and Genetic Structure for Hazel Grouse (Bonasa bonasia)
Sammanfattning : In this work suitable habitats for hazel grouse (Bonasa bonasia) were identified using ecological niche factor analysis (ENFA). The results from ENFA reveal that hazel grouse utilize a different and more restricted niche than what is generally available in the study area. LÄS MER
25. Diversification on an ancient Darwinian island : Evolutionary history of caddisflies (Trichoptera) and other organisms on New Caledonia
Sammanfattning : Islands are either of continental or oceanic origin, and the biota of such islands are a result of vicariance and dispersal, respectively. New Caledonia, in the South Pacific, is a part of former Gondwana, but the origin of its biota is heavily debated. LÄS MER
