Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to historize discourses of parenthood by analyzing how they are negotiated and legitimized in Swedish non-literary and wide spread texts published in the 1870s, 1940s and 2010s. The analyzed corpus consists of the following: family and women’s movement magazines from the 1870s; a public counseling brochure and weekly magazines from the 1940s; blog texts; online health counseling; parent magazines; and public welfare information from the 2010s. Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is the contemporary literature written by the sons and daughters of North African immigrant families in France. Its main area of investigation is the place of this literature in the French literary field, in the Bourdieusian sense of the term, and the discursive features which motivate the ethnic based label of “Beur literature”. Sammanfattning : This dissertation aims to contribute to the field of discourse analysis by focusing on three discourse marker candidates, namely buoys, PALM-UP and the sign SAME, in French Belgian Sign Language (LSFB) and Catalan Sign Language (LSC). The first issue in the study of discourse markers is their identification, which has been based on three criteria: to be syntactically optional, to be non-truth-conditional and to constrain the inferential mechanisms of interpretation processes.
