    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the polyphonic and argumentative functions of the French negation marker, ne, in editorial texts from the daily press. The concept ‘polyphony’ relates to the presence of multiple voices within one and the same utterance. According to this view, negation triggers a subdivision of an utterance in two points of view.     Sammanfattning : The intention of this study is to give a qualitative and quantitative description of the usage of connectors, especially mais, parce que and donc, and of some epistemic modifiers in the spoken French of Swedish advanced learners. The study includes eight advanced learners, six highly advanced learners and eight native speakers from the French learner corpus InterFra, all interviewed by the same native speaker. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to compare the French concessive connectors "pourtant", "cependant", "quand même", "tout de même", "néanmoins" and "toutefois" with a group of Swedish concessive counterparts, namely "ändå", "i alla fall", "dock" and "emellertid". The analysis is based on a translation corpus comprising nine French novels and nine Swedish novels and their translations into Swedish and French, respectively. LÄS MER
