2. Injury-Induced Signalling in Arterial Smooth Muscle Cells
Sammanfattning : The vascular wall is an active, elastic and integrated organ made up of cellular and extracellular matrix (ECM) components. It is not a static organ; the components dynamically change and reorganize in response to physiological and pathological stimuli. Vascular injury induces a complex healing process, analogous to generalised wound healing. LÄS MER
3. Cell activation and nerve regeneration following peripheral nerve injury
Sammanfattning : The effect of short time vibration exposure and tourniquet compression on nerve regeneration in rats was studied with special reference to cell activation. One of the hindlimbs was conditioned by either vibration exposure (5 hours / day - 5 consecutive days) or compression (150-300 mmHg for 30-120 minutes), which was followed by a recovery period of 0-7 days. 4. Studies on Peripheral Nerve Regeneration: Microdispensing, Neurite Guidance and Galectins
Sammanfattning : The present thesis describes development of a microdispenser-based technique to create of protein patterns for neurite guidance. The same technique was also developed to allow direct positioning of dissociated cells, including neurons, on cell culture substrates. Finally the role of galectin-3 and 8 during nerve regeneration was investigated. LÄS MER
5. Factors affecting neurosensory disturbances after mandibular osteotomies. Clinical and experimental studies
