  1. 21. Antibodies during pregnancy : Aspects on complications during pregnancy and complications related to transfusion

    Författare :Miodrag Palfi; Olof Sjöberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Pregnancy; Thl; Th2; hernolytic disease of the newborn; anti-D; IgG subclasses; IgG transport; post-transfusion reactions; acute lung injury; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The fetus acquires half of its genetic infonnation from the father and represents a foreign graft in pregnancy. The overall mechanisms contributing to immunologic tolerance and successful pregancy still are an enigma. Accumulating results of immunologic research, however, offer an explanation for many events in pregnancy. LÄS MER

  2. 22. On the binding of growth-promoting polyamines to proteoglycans: Implications for growth-regulation and polycation-mediated gene transfer

    Författare :Mattias Belting; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; cationic lipid.; gene transfer; gene therapy; cell growth; polyamine transport; spermine; polyamine; growth-inhibition; heparan sulphate; dermatan sulphate; Proteoglycan; glycosaminoglycan; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Sammanfattning : Initial investigations were directed at studying the interaction between polyamines and various glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). The polyamine spermine displayed binding to dermatan sulphate (DS) and heparan sulphate (HS) with similar (Kd, 3.9 x 10-4 M) and higher (Kd, 0.37 x 10-6 M) affinity, respectively, than to DNA. 3. 23. Electrochemical properties of alternative polymer electrolytes in fuel cells

    Författare :Annika Carlson; Rakel Lindström; Göran Lindbergh; Carina Lagergren; Mohamed Mamlouk; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fuel cell; anion exchange membrane; proton exchange membrane; electrode morphology; hydrogen oxidation reaction; water transport; poly phenylene oxide ; cellulose; bränslecell; anjonledande membran; protonledande membran; elektrodstruktur; vätgasoxidation; vattentransport; poly fenylenoxid ; cellulosa; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Fuel cells, using hydrogen as energy carrier, allow chemically‑stored energy to be utilized for many applications, including balancing the electrical grid and the propulsion of vehicles. To make the fuel cell technology more accessible and promote a sustainable energy society, this thesis focuses on alternative polymer electrolytes, as they can potentially lead to a lower cost and a more environmentally‑friendly fuel cell. 4. 24. Vitreoscilla Haemoglobin. Genetic Fusions and Metabolic Characterisation

    Författare :Viktoria Roos; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism; osmotic stress; transcript profiling; DNA microarrays; random elongation mutagenesis; directed evolution; mRNA structure; Vitreoscilla haemoglobin VHb ; Escherichia coli; salt stress.;

    Sammanfattning : Vitreoscilla is an obligate aerobic bacterium living in oxygen-poor environments such as stagnant ponds and decaying vegetable matter. Vitreoscilla expresses a homodimeric haemoglobin (VHb) when subjected to oxygen-limited conditions. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Intra- and Extracellular Modulation of Integrin-directed Connective Tissue Cell Contraction

    Författare :Tijs van Wieringen; Kristofer Rubin; Anders Arner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Interstitial fluid pressure; PDGF-BB; bacterial proteins; αVβ3 integrin; cytoskeleton; Biochemistry; Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : All blood vessels in the microvasculature are embedded in loose connective tissue, which regulates the transport of fluid to and from tissues. The intersti-tial fluid pressure (IFP) is one of the forces that control this transport. LÄS MER
