36. Analysis of Binding Events and Diffusion in Living Cells
Sammanfattning : It is well known that diffusion is the main mode of transport in living cells, but the consequences of diffusion in a complex cellular environment are not generally appreciated. In this thesis, we have investigated several aspects of how diffusion properties influence the observability of cellular binding kinetics and how they can be used to obtain information about the environment of proteins and other molecules. 37. Heterogeneous Materials - Diffusion, Laplace Spectrum, and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance
Sammanfattning : In this thesis diffusion in heterogeneous materials is studied using spectral analysisof the Laplace operator. Relations to the effective diffusion constant and therelaxation rate of the time-dependent diffusion coefficient for porous systems arederived from the Laplace operator’s spectrum. LÄS MER
38. The international diffusion of new chemical entities : A cross-national study of the determinants of differences in drug lag
Sammanfattning : The two main objectives of this thesis are to make a general contribution to the understanding of the international diffusion of new chemical entities (NCEs) and to improve the research methods by applying econometric methodology. The study is based on a data base including all 553 NCEs introduced in Sweden during the period 1960-1987 and their introductions in France, West Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States and Norway. 39. Raster Image Analysis of Diffusion via Single Particle Methods
Sammanfattning : Soft biomaterials are widely used in many application areas, spanning from packaging materials to pharmaceuticals. To enhance their functionalities, understanding the interplay between microstructure and mass transport properties in these materials is fundamental. LÄS MER
40. On the Growth of Bone through Stress Driven Diffusion and Bone Generation Processes
Sammanfattning : In order to prevent or modify bone degeneration due to rest or due to diseases such as osteopenia and osteoporosis, the modeling and remodeling of bone tissue must be better understood. In this thesis it is assumed that the primary condition leading to bone growth is a change of the chemical environment caused by transport of matter resulting from stress driven diffusion. LÄS MER
