  1. 1. Optical Analysis of biological media - continuous wave diffuse spectroscopy

    Författare :Jan Sørensen Dam; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spatially resolved diffuse reflectance; in vitro diffuse spectroscopy; continuous wave techniques; Nuclear physics; multivariate data analysis.; Kärnfysik; Fysik; Physics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Monte Carlo simulations; light propagation models; multiple scattering; Tissue optics; tissue optical properties; Fysicumarkivet A:2000:Sörensen Dam;

    Sammanfattning : The main topic of this thesis is real-time quantification of relevant chromophores and light scattering elements in biological media. The presented methods and instrumentation are based on continuous wave (steady-state) optical measurements of (a) spatially-resolved diffuse reflectance from bulk media and (b) combined spatially-resolved and goniometric measurements of re-emitted light from thin samples. 2. 2. Model-based Approaches to Diffuse Optical Imaging and Dosimetry

    Författare :Johan Axelsson; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; photodynamic therapy; diffuse light propagation; fluorescence; imaging; dosimetry; inverse problem;

    Sammanfattning : The work within this thesis investigates Photodynamic therapy and Fluorescence imaging for therapeutics and visualization of deeply embedded lesions. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a cancer treatment modality that can eradicate tumors when light, a photosensible drug and oxygen are present. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Multi-Scattering: Computational light transport in turbid media

    Författare :Joakim Jönsson; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Monte carlo simulations; scattering in tissues; particulate scattering; GPU; CUDA; Fysicumarkivet A:2021:Jönsson;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents and describes the development of an online freely accessible software called Multi-Scattering for the computational modeling of light propagation in scattering and absorbing media. The model is based on the use of the Monte Carlo method, where billions of photon packets are being launched and tracked through simulated cubic volumes. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Laser Absorption Spectroscopy of Gas in Scattering Media

    Författare :Märta Lewander; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; medical diagnosis; gas analysis; absorption spectroscopy; diode laser spectroscopy; light scattering; food-package monitoring; GASMAS;

    Sammanfattning : Absorption spectroscopy constitutes a chemical analysis tool which can be applied to various samples and application fields. This thesis focuses on gas absorption spectroscopy with the means of diode lasers - tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy, TDLAS. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Applications of Spectroscopy in the Photon Migration Regime

    Författare :Tomas Svensson; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Porosimetry; Biomedical optics; Pharmaceutical analysis; Monte Carlo; Scattering media; Photon migration; Laser spectroscopy; High-resolution spectroscopy; Time-resolved spectroscopy; Time-of-flight;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis is devoted to two different matters: One part is the development of a novel optical technique for characterisation of solid pharmaceutical materials. The other part being the continued development of photon time-of-flight spectroscopy, as well as exploration of new application areas of this method. LÄS MER
