  1. 6. Advancing Upconversion Emissions for Biomedical Imaging

    Författare :Haichun Liu; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; upconverting nanoparticles; luminescence; fluorescence; inverse problem; biomedical optics; biomedical imaging; photon migration; upconversion; tomography; saturation; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Liu;

    Sammanfattning : During the past decade, upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) doped with rare earth ions have become an important class of fluorescence contrast agents for molecular imaging, due to their unique properties. Their property of anti-Stokes luminescence, with both the excitation and emission wavelengths close to the optimal for biomedical imaging, has been extensively explored in various biomedical applications. 2. 7. Application of Infrared and UV-Visible Remote Sensing Techniques for Studying the Stratosphere and for Estimating Antrophogenic Emissions

    Författare :Johan Mellqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stratospheric ozone; temperature dependence; non linearity; FTIR; VOC; flue gas; DOAS; long path FTIR; fugitive emissions;

    Sammanfattning : Infrared and UV/visible broadband absorption techniques have been used in three applications related to environmental research and atmospheric science. The techniques are based on measuring the attenuation of light by the atmosphere in the infrared and UV/visible region, and since a very large number of species absorb light in these wavelength regions, the techniques studied allow the measurement of several species simultaneously. 3. 8. Urban heavy metals : Stocks and flows

    Författare :Louise Sörme; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Heavy metais; urban areas; Substance flow analysis; inflow; stock; outflow; diffuse emisson; waste; wastewater treatment plant; legislation; Tungmetaller; miljöaspekter; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Sammanfattning : Levels of heavy metals in different media are high today, both in Stockholm and other urban areas. Where do the metals come from? Production emissions and point sources are not the answer, since earlier research has shown that production emissions are lower than emission from goods during use (the diffuse emission). LÄS MER

  4. 9. Tracing Copper from society to the aquatic environment : Model development and case studies in Stockholm

    Författare :Qing Cui; Maria E. Malmström; Olle Wahlberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :diffuse source; source analysis; sediment pollution levels; urban lake; Copper; Stockholm archipelago; SFA; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Copper remains at elevated levels in the aquatic environment of Stockholm due to diffuse urban sources. Management of these diffuse sources requires their quantification but they cannot be measured directly by field observations. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Nitrogen land-sea fluxes in the Baltic Sea catchment : Empirical relationships and budgets

    Författare :Hanna Eriksson Hägg; Christoph Humborg; Carl-Magnus Mörth; Hans Borg; Sybil Seitzinger; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nitrogen fluxes; Baltic Sea; primary emissions; riverine export; Scenario analysis; climate change; animal protein consumption; fertilizer use; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis empirical relationships and modeling tools are used to describe the relationship between human activities and meso- and large scale riverine N fluxes from land to sea. On a large scale Paper I showed that by only having knowledge about human population size and runoff one can estimate the riverine export of DIN (r2= 0.76). LÄS MER
