1. Diffuse emissions from goods : influences on some societal end products
Sammanfattning : End products of society (e.g. sewage sludge and incineration ashes) can be used as indicators of the use of chemicals in consumer goods. Through upstream work the sources of substances released from goods may be identified before the emissions reach the end products. LÄS MER
2. Reducing Radon Gas Emissions in Concrete
Sammanfattning : Several compulsory regulations and recommendations regarding ionising radiation for building products have been introduced in recent years. Furthermore, industry-affiliated aggregate and concrete companies strive to implement environmental goals that should be fulfilled regarding building materials. LÄS MER
3. Emissions of volatile organic compounds from wood
Sammanfattning : The central aim of this thesis is to support the efforts to counteract certain environmental problems caused by emissions of volatile organic compounds. The purpose of this work was (1) to develop a method to establish the amount of emitted substances from dryers, (2) to determine the effect of drying medium temperature and end moisture content of the processed material on emissions of monoterpenes and other hydrocarbons, (3) to examine the emissions of monoterpenes during production of pellets, and (4) to examine the natural emissions from forests with an eye to implications for modelling. 4. Road traffic metals : sources and emissions
Sammanfattning : As the environmental regulations and technical progress have forced the factories’ old “end of pipe” solutions to improve, the metal emissions from point sources have decreased. Instead, the diffuse consumption emissions from goods in use now are in focus. LÄS MER
5. Environmental Assessment of Alternative Durable Water Repellent Chemicals. First steps towards a holistic assessment
Sammanfattning : Durable water repellent (DWR) finishes are applied to textiles to impart water and in some cases oil repellency. Water (and oil) repellency can be an important contribution to a textile’s performance, for comfort or for the protection of human lives under extreme conditions. LÄS MER
