  1. 16. Gene Expression in the Brains of Two Lines of Chicken Divergently Selected for High and Low Body Weight

    Författare :Sojeong Ka; Finn Hallböök; Tom Porter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; chicken; juvenile body weight; divergent selection; gene expression; DNA microarray; quantitiative RT-PCR; hypothalamus; neural plasticity; melanocortin system; endogenous retrovirus; carnitine palmitoyltransferase-1b; Neurobiology; Neurobiologi; medicinsk utvecklings- och neurobiologi; Developmental Neurosciences;

    Sammanfattning : Artificial divergent selection of chickens for high and low body weight at 8 weeks of age has produced two lines: the high (HWS) and low (LWS) body weight chicken lines. In addition to the difference in body weight, the lines show extreme differences in feeding behaviour and body composition. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Functional adaptation of c-Myc and its role in lymphoma-associated gene regulation

    Författare :Amir Nematollahi Mahani; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The Myc proto-oncogene, is a highly disordered (lack of structure formation) transcription factor (TF), which can bind to its partner proteins and regulate different biological functions of the cells including proliferation, cell cycle, differentiation and apoptosis. In general, Myc deregulation is a major prime force in human tumors, which contributes to their uncontrolled cell proliferation, metastasis and tumor cell immortalizations. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Differential maturation of Na+,K+-ATPase in the rat : transcriptional regulation by glucocorticoids

    Författare :Zheng-Ming Wang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :glucocorticoids; ontogeny; Na ; K -ATPase; H ; K -ATPase; iontransporter; kidney; lung; heart; stomach; colon.;

    Sammanfattning : Na+,K+-ATPase is a ubiquitous transmembrane enzyme that creates the electrochemical gradient across the cell membrane. Na+,K+-ATPase activity is low in many immature tissues. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Gene expression profiling in animal models of alcoholism

    Författare :Christina Arlinde; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Alcoholism; gene expression; microarray; animal model; rat; brain;

    Sammanfattning : Genetic and environmental factors in alcoholism interact at the level of the transcriptome to encode the phenotypic traits of this complex clinical syndrome. Because of this, the prospect of simultaneous, genome wide, high-throughput analysis of gene expression in key brain areas potentially offers a novel strategy to identify new molecular treatment targets in this disease. 5. 20. Transcription regulation across levels of chromatin organization

    Författare :Roshan Vaid; Mattias Mannervik; Goncalo Castelo-Branco; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transcription; chromatin; epigenetics; Drosophila; embryo development; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : With advancements in high-throughput sequencing and high-resolution microscopy techniques, the significance of genome organization in transcription regulation is rapidly unveiling. Nonetheless, we are yet far from completely understanding this key relationship. LÄS MER
