  1. 16. Search for Type 2 Diabetes Susceptibility Genes Using Multiple Approaches

    Författare :Cecilia Lindgren; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; single nucleotide polymorphism SNP ; transmission-disequilibrium test TDT ; genetic variation; single strand conformational polymorphism SSCP ; gene expression; insulin; glucose; genome-wide scan; linkage; genetic association; Type 2 diabetes; early onset diabetes EOD ; sekretion; diabetologi; Endokrinologi; diabetology; Endocrinology; secreting systems; signal-to-noise ratio SNR ;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a multifactorial disorder characterized by chronic hyperglycemia resulting from pancreatic dysfunction and insulin resistance. It is a common disorder with a complex pattern of inheritance, likely to reflect the influence of multiple genetic and environmental factors on the diabetes risk. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Survivors of the Sea: Investigating the genomics and survival strategies of the diatom Skeletonema marinoi

    Författare :Matthew I. M. Pinder; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Diatoms; Skeletonema marinoi; Resting stages; Bioinformatics; Genomics; Gene expression; Metabarcoding;

    Sammanfattning : Diatoms are an ecologically important group of phytoplankton, responsible for around 20% of global primary production. One of the features contributing to their success is their ability to form resting stages, a response to adverse conditions in which they enter a dormant state and sink to the sediment. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Expression and function of TRP channels in peripheral sensory neurons

    Författare :Susanne Staaf; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Transient receptor potential (TRP) channels comprise a family of multifunctional proteins which has since its discovery been of particular interest in sensory biology even though they are also frequently expressed in non-neuronal cell types. It is evident that TRP channels play an important role in the function of sensory neurons, not at least by being sensors of external stimuli. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Cardiac hypertrophy : transcription patterns, hypertrophic progression and extracellular signalling

    Författare :Nina Gennebäck; Stellan Mörner; Anders Waldenström; Urban Hellman; Ali J Marian; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiac hypertrophy; HCM; gene expression; OPLS-DA; multivariate dataanalysis; cardiomyocytes; exosomes; microvesicles; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The aim of this thesis was to study transcription patterns and extracellular signalling of the hypertrophic heart to better understand the mechanisms initiating, controlling and maintaining cardiac hypertrophy.Cardiac hypertrophy is a risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. 5. 20. Placental molecular mechanisms as pathways linking prenatal exposure to ambient air pollution to preeclampsia and fetal growth

    Författare :Yumjirmaa Mandakh; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Preeclampsia; Ambient air pollution; placenta; Small-for-gestational age; mitochondrial DNA content; telomere length; global DNA methylation; gene expression; epigenetic age;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Preeclampsia (PE) is a “multifactorial syndrome” in which ambient air pollution may contribute to the etiology of PE. However, the underlying mechanism of this association is not clearly elucidated. LÄS MER
