  1. 6. Diabetes complications, risk factors, and glycaemic indices in persons with type 1 diabetes

    Författare :Sara Hallström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; Type 2 diabetes; Hyperglycaemia; Diabetes complications; Renal insufficiency; Amputation; Atrial fibrillation; Mortality; Myocardial infarction; Heart failure; Stroke; Continuous glucose monitoring;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Persons with type 1 diabetes are at higher risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality. An important risk factor for diabetes complications is hyperglycaemia. Hyperglycaemia has traditionally been measured using HbA1c, but glycaemic targets are also provided for continuous glucose monitoring. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Genetic and Metabolic Markers for the Development of Diabetes after Gestational Diabetes Mellitus

    Författare :Magnus Ekelund; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oral glucose tolerance tests; Genetics; Autoimmunity; Insulin sensitivity; Gestational diabetes mellitus; Insulin secretion; HbA1c; Fasting glucose; FTO-gene; Postpartum diabetes;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this work were to determine the prevalence of postpartum diabetes among women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in a prospective study 5 years postpartum; to characterize these women according to insulin secretion, insulin sensitivity, autoimmunity and genetics; and to identify possible markers and predictors for the development of manifest diabetes. The subjects were recruited through a regional screening programme in which oral glucose tolerance tests (OGTTs) are routinely offered to all pregnant women. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Living with diabetes : a lifelong learning process

    Författare :Åsa Kneck; Ingegerd Fagerberg; Berit Lundman; Lars E. Eriksson; Inger Holmström; vårdvetenskap och samhälle Institutionen för neurobiologi Karolinska institutet; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []

    Sammanfattning : Living with diabetes, as a lifelong illness, is interlaced with learning and to face continual changes. However, the role of time in this learning process is not yet well understood. The overall aim of the thesis was to gain a deepened understanding of learning to live with diabetes for those recently diagnosed and over a three year period. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Genetic and immunological risk factors of gestational diabetes mellitus

    Författare :Nael Shaat; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []

    Sammanfattning : Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a heterogeneous disorder that is defined as carbohydrate intolerance with onset or first recognition during pregnancy. Impaired beta-cell function and insulin resistance are the hallmarks of GDM. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aims were to describe perspectives of living with diabetes, to develop a patient-reported outcome and experience measure for the Swedish National Diabetes Register, and to initiate the evaluation of evidence of measurement quality for that measure. A further aim was to describe health-related quality of life and to assess its associations with glycaemic control. LÄS MER
