  1. 1. Intracellular vesicles induced by monotopic membrane protein in Escherichia coli

    Författare :Hanna M. Eriksson; Åke Wieslander; Meta Kuehn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Membrane protein; intracellular vesicles; Escherichia coli; glycosyltransferase; overexpression; optimization; detergent; screening; lipid composition; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The monotopic membrane protein alMGS, a glycosyltransferase catalyzing glucolipid synthesis in Acholeplasma laidlawii, was overexpressed in Escherichia coli. Optimization of basic growth parameters was performed, and a novel method for detergent and buffer screening using a small size-exclusion chromatography was developed. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Engineered Yeast as Biocatalyst for Stereoselective reductions of Dicarbonyl Compounds

    Författare :Ted Johanson; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; chiral; screening; process optimisation; metabolic engineering; dicarbonyl; biocatalysis; yeast; bioreduction; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Chiral building blocks are needed in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries for the production of fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals. The utilisation of microorganisms and enzymes to perform stereoselective reductions of carbonyl compounds is an efficient and widely applied method for the generation of chiral molecules. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Membrane Protein Tailoring and Structural Studies of Leukotriene C4 Synthase

    Författare :Daniel Martinez Molina; Pär Nordlund; Robert M. Stroud; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; membrane proteins; random mutagenesis; detergent screening; Leukotriene C₄ synthase; IMAC; Structural biology; Strukturbiologi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Despite a dramatic increase in the number of proteins that have been structurally characterized in recent years, there are still less than 200 unique structures of membrane proteins known today. This is only 1% of the total number of unique protein structures found in structural databases worldwide. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Characterizing phenotypes of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and exploring anti-mycobacterial compounds through high content screening

    Författare :Sadaf Kalsum; Maria Lerm; Thomas Lundbäck; Annika Jenmalm; Lena Serrander; Priscille Bordin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Tuberculosis (TB), an airborne disease and one of the top 10 causes of death globally, is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). Current standard therapy for TB treatment includes multiple drugs for a period of at least 6 months. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Shining light on unknown function proteins

    Författare :Riccardo Diamanti; Martin Högbom; Hans-Petter Hersleth; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proteins; membrane proteins; metalloproteins; biochemistry; metabolism; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The study of protein structure and function is a fundamental step for understanding biological systems and for creating a solid ground for future drug development. Despite the development of novel ground-breaking biochemical and bioinformatical tools in the last decades, most proteins found in nature still have unknown assigned function. LÄS MER
