11. Automation, hyphenation and multidimensional chromatography for PAH analysis : Analytical techniques to simplify sample complexity
Sammanfattning : One group of organic environmental pollutants which are potentially hazardous to human health is polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). These compounds consist of two or more benzene rings in their structure among which benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P) is classified as a human carcinogen. LÄS MER
12. Drive train system dynamic analysis; Application to wind turbines
Sammanfattning : To facilitate the design and production of highly efficient and reliable wind turbine drive trains, the project deals with the mathematical modelling and experimental study of drive train system dynamics.A typical drive train is considered as the subsystem of a wind turbine that transfers mechanical power from the rotor hub to the generator, and thereby plays an important role in the system dynamics and efficiency of wind turbine operation. 13. Detection of pulmonary nodules in chest tomosynthesis: Comparison with chest radiography, evaluation of learning effects and investigation of radiation dose level dependency
Sammanfattning : Chest tomosynthesis is a relatively recently introduced technique in healthcare, which produces section images of the chest at a lower radiation dose than computed tomography (CT) and with better depth resolution than conventional chest radiography. The primary aims of the studies described in this dissertation were to compare chest tomosynthesis with conventional radiography, to evaluate the effects of clinical experience and learning with feedback on the performance of observers analyzing tomosynthesis images, and to investigate the effect of radiation dose level in tomosynthesis, in the detection of pulmonary nodules. 14. In-situ monitoring of laser powder bed fusion applied to defect detection
Sammanfattning : Additive manufacturing technologies, particularly laser powder bed fusion (LPBF), have received much attention recently due to their numerous advantages over conventional manufacturing methods. However, the use of LPBF is still quite restricted, mainly due to two factors: its typically low productivity, which makes the technology less competitive in applications with moderate to high production volumes, and its limited reliability, particularly relevant for applications where high performance is required from the materials. 15. Fault Detection in Wastewater Treatment : Process Supervision to Improve Wastewater Reuse
Sammanfattning : As wastewater treatment plants transition to water resource recovery facilities, the need for improved control and consequently supervision increases. Despite the large volume of research that has been performed on this topic, the use in industry is scarce. LÄS MER
