  1. 1. Design flood estimation under uncertainty

    Författare :Kenechukwu Okoli; Giuliano Di Baldassarre; András Bárdossy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dimensionerande flöden; osäkerheter; avrinningsmodellering; frekvens analys.; Dimensionerande flöden; osäkerheter; avrinningsmodellering; frekvens analys.; Design flood; uncertainty; rainfall-runoff; frequency analysis.; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Att bestämma dimensionerande flöden, d.v.s. sannolikheten för att vat-tenföringen i ett vattendrag överskrider ett givet värde, är ett allmänt hydrologiskt problem som exempelvis används för att utvärdera över-svämningsrisker i vattendrag samt för att dimensionera hydrauliska kon-struktioner. 2. 2. Rhine cities - urban flood integration (UFI) : German and Dutch adaptation and mitigation strategies

    Författare :Cornelia Redeker; V.J. Meyer; Netherlands Delft Department of Urbanism Faculty of Architecture and The Built Environment Delft University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Flood management; Rhine; Germany; Netherlands; Urban Flood Integration; climate change; klimatförändringar; sustainability; hållbarhet; design; design;

    Sammanfattning : Flood Risk Management along the Rhine today combines river expanding measures and adaptive strategies with the existing defensive system to cope with the risk increase as a consequence of previous interventions and developments and fluctuations in water levels due to climate change. Differences in landscapes and urgencies and differences in planning cultures between the Upper and Lower Rhine and the Delta have also led to different strategic approaches. LÄS MER

  3. 3. People, Climate, and Inclusive Infrastructure : A thesis on design and planning in underserved neighbourhoods

    Författare :Joseph Mulligan; Mattias Höjer; David Nilsson; Edgar Pieterse; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Socio-ecological systems; climate change; infrastructure design and planning; participation; adaptation; co-design; resilience; urban transition; flood risk management; transdisciplinary research; Kibera; Nairobi; Kenya; sub-Saharan Africa.; Strategier för hållbar utveckling; Strategies for sustainable development;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with the processes of design and planning of infrastructure in rapidly urbanising cities that can lead to a more just and sustainable trajectory of urban development in the context of a changing climate. The thesis draws on case studies, panel surveys, interviews, and participant-observation of both top-down and bottom-up planning processes for infrastructure development and flood risk management in the context of urban informal areas, with a particular focus on the large informal neighbourhood of Kibera in central Nairobi, Kenya. 4. 4. Modelling, mapping and visualisation of flood inundation uncertainties

    Författare :Nancy Joy Lim; Stefan Seipel; S. Anders Brandt; Eva A. U. Sahlin; Matthew Wilson; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cartography; flood; hydraulic modelling; GIS; map; uncertainty; visualisation; GIS; hydraulisk modellering; karta; kartografi; osäkerhet; visualisering; översvämning; Hållbar stadsutveckling; Sustainable Urban Development;

    Sammanfattning : Flood maps showing extents of predicted flooding for a given extreme event have wide usage in all types of spatial planning tasks, as well as serving as information material for the public. However, the production processes that these maps undergo (including the different data, methods, models and decisions from the persons generating them), which include both Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and hydraulic modelling, affect the map’s content, and will be reflected in the final map. 5. 5. Dam safety in a hydrological perspective-Case study of the historical water system of Sala Silver Mine

    Författare :Tina Fridolf; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :dam safety; design flood; flood mitigation; hydrological; risk assessment;

    Sammanfattning : The old water system in Sala, formerly belonging to thesilver mine, is analysed with regard to dam safety focusing onthe hydrological aspects. The hydrological safety of the riskclass I dams in the area, built in the 16th century, is notconsidered adequate according to the Swedish guidelines fordesign flood determination. LÄS MER
