  1. 1. Moving decolonially in design for sustainabilities : spaces, rhythms, rituals, celebrations, conflicts

    Författare :Nicholas B. Torretta; Johan Redström; Brendon Clark; Andrea Botero Cabrero; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Design; decolonization; sustainability; Capoeira; movement; decolonising design; design for sustainability; pluriverse; pluriversality; industrial design; design; design;

    Sammanfattning : As design attempts to tackle environmental and social issues, it has found itself intertwined with and bound to an oppressive global paradigm that has created the problems in the first place. Consequently, the effort of disentangling design from its current paradigm has been gaining attention under the emerging focus of decolonising design (Mareis and Paim, 2020; Tlostanova, 2017) and design for pluriversality (Escobar, 2018; Noel, 2020). 2. 2. Zero Waste Design Thinking

    Författare :Holly McQuillan; Clemens Thornquist; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; zero waste design; sustainable design; circular economy; fashion design; circular design; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Sammanfattning : The fashion system is contributing to the environmental and social crises on an ever increasing scale. The industry must transform in order to situate itself within the environmental and social limits proposed by economist Kate Raworth, and the 17 sustainable development goals set out by the United Nations. 3. 3. Design for Service: A framework for articulating designers’ contribution as interpreter of users’ experience

    Författare :Katarina Wetter Edman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Design for Service; design practice; service logic; service design; user involvement user centered design; materialization; narrative; experience; design for service;

    Sammanfattning : During the past approximately 15 years designers have paid increasing attention to service and changes in our society, resulting in a new design discipline – service design. In parallel, designers’ contributions to service development and innovation have been brought forward, often emphasizing designers’ capability of involving users, acting in and through multidisciplinary teams and using visualization skills in these situations. 4. 4. Advancing the life cycle energy optimisation methodology

    Författare :Hamza Bouchouireb; Ciarán J. O'Reilly; Peter Göransson; Rupert J. Baumgartner; José Potting; Tracy Bhamra; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; life cycle energy; vehicle design; optimisation; functional conflicts; livscykelenergi; fordonsdesign; optimering; tvär-funktionella konflikter; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The Life Cycle Energy Optimisation (LCEO) methodology aims at finding a design solution that uses a minimum amount of cumulative energy demand over the different phases of the vehicle's life cycle, while complying with a set of functional constraints. This effectively balances trade-offs, and therewith avoids sub-optimal shifting between the energy demand for the cradle-to-production of materials, operation of the vehicle, and end-of-life phases. 5. 5. Software Design Conflicts : Maintainability versus Performance and Availability

    Författare :Daniel Häggander; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; object-oriented applications; design conflicts; performance; availability;

    Sammanfattning : A major goal in software engineering is to reduce the cost of maintaining software systems. Finding design methods which make software more easily maintainable has thus been one of the most prioritized challenges during the past decade. While mainstream software design has concentrated on maintainability, other software disciplines e.g. LÄS MER
