  2. 7. Human eosinophils and their activation by allergens via danger signal receptors

    Författare :Elin Redvall; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :human eosinophils; danger signals; allergen; formyl peptide receptors; CCR3; chemotaxis; degranulation; free oxygen radicals; receptor desensitization;

    Sammanfattning : Human eosinophilic granulocytes are polymorphonuclear cells with a powerful arsenal of cytotoxic substances in their granules, which are mainly found in the gastrointestinal mucosa, and the respiratory and genitourinary tracts. Their physiological role is incompletely understood, although it is likely they protect the mucosal surfaces, perhaps by recognizing danger signals present on microorganisms or released from damaged tissue. 3. 8. Post-traumatic stress disorder : neurobiology and effects of eye movement desensitization and reprocessing

    Författare :Göran Högberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to evaluate a new psychotherapy method, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and to study the biological reactions in PTSD during a script-driven symptom provocation. PTSD is a disorder that may occur after a major psychological trauma. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Mechanism of pure glucose-dependent insulinotropic activity of a novel imidazoline compound BL11282

    Författare :Vladimir Sharoyko; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Insulin secretion; pancreatic islets; imidazolines; BL11282; arachidonic acid; phospholipase; cytochrome P-450; GLP-1; desensitization; Rhes;

    Sammanfattning : We developed a novel, pure glucose-dependent, insulinotropic imidazoline compound, BL11282, which directly affects the insulin exocytotic machinery and does not block the KATP channel activity. BL11282 does not induce insulin secretion at basal glucose concentrations, whereas it stimulates insulin secretion at an elevated glucose level. LÄS MER
