1. Benefits and risks with digital dermoscopy and teledermoscopy
Sammanfattning : The increasing incidence of malignant melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) makes it necessary to optimize the management of patients with suspicious skin lesions, from triaging, to establishing a diagnosis and planning treatment. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the use of teledermoscopy (TDS) as a way of achieving such an optimization, as well as to study safety aspects of digital dermoscopy and teledermoscopy while pointing out risks and pitfalls so that they can be avoided. 2. Aspects on in vivo imaging techniques for diagnostics of pigmented skin lesions
Sammanfattning : Abstract Problem: Non-invasive diagnostic techniques to facilitate diagnosis of pigmented skin lesions (PSL) are being developed. Dermoscopy and SIAscopy are two such techniques, and they are evaluated in this thesis. LÄS MER
3. Aspects of skin cancer diagnosis in clinical practice
Sammanfattning : Skin cancer incidence is increasing in fair-skinned populations. The three most common skin cancers are basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and malignant melanoma (MM). A correct diagnosis is crucial for an efficient and tailored treatment for the skin cancer patient. LÄS MER
4. On the diagnosis and treatment of intraepidermal carcinoma
Sammanfattning : Abstract: Intraepidermal carcinoma (IEC), also known as Bowen disease (BD) or squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in situ, is a precursor to SCC. The incidence of IEC is increasing rapidly in fair-skinned populations with a subsequent increase in patient morbidity. LÄS MER
5. Basal cell carcinoma: real-life burden on healthcare and simplified destructive treatments
Sammanfattning : Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common cancer in humans. With steadily increasing incidence rates, there is a constant need to evaluate current diagnostic methods and treatment alternatives to achieve effective care for the patients while considering available healthcare funding.
