1. Insights in Li-ion Battery Interfaces through Photoelectron Spectroscopy Depth Profiling
Sammanfattning : Compounds forming alloys with lithium, such as silicon or tin, are promising negative electrode materials for the next generation of Li-ion batteries due to their higher theoretical capacity compared to the current commercial electrode materials. An important issue is to better understand the phenomena occurring at the electrode/electrolyte interfaces of these new materials. 2. Toward functional Metal-Organic Frameworks: molecular doping, depth profiling, and surface growth
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, selected synthetic aspects of functional Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are considered. More specifically, the work is focused on MOFs doped with functional molecules in the role of structural linkers. LÄS MER
3. Dye-sensitized nanostructured metal oxide electrodes : Photoelectrochemical, quantum chemical and electron spectroscopic studies
Sammanfattning : Solar cells based on dye-Sensitized nanostructured electrodes are promising for solar energy conversion. High overall light-to-energy conversion efficiencies have been obtained for systems based on TiO2 (7%) and ZnO (2%). The photocurrent losses in these electrodes have been investigated by photoelectrochemical methods. LÄS MER
4. Corrosion and Surface Studies of Stainless Steel and Chromium Carbide Thin-Films
Sammanfattning : Although the passive films that form on stainless steels have been extensively studied, the concentration depth profiles are not fully understood. Their thinness makes passive films hard to study, but angle-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (ARXPS) is a non-destructive technique that can be used to obtain depth information. LÄS MER
5. Contacts on Silicon Carbide by Use of Nickel and Tantalum ---Preparation and Characterisation
Sammanfattning : Silicon carbide (SiC) is one of the attractive semiconductors due to its good electrical, thermal and mechanical properties. It is a promising material for high temperature, high power and high frequency application. Reliable electrodes are always necessary to utilise SiC for electronic devices. LÄS MER
