  1. 1. Viral Control of SR Protein Activity

    Författare :Camilla Estmer Nilsson; Neus Visa; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; adenovirus; ASF SF2; dephosphorylation; E4-ORF4; L1; MLTU; PP2A; splicing; SR proteins; vaccinia virus; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Virology; medicinsk virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Viruses modulate biosynthetic machineries of the host cell for a rapid and efficient virus replication. One important way of modulating protein activity in eukaryotic cells is by reversible phosphorylation. In this thesis we have studied adenovirus and vaccinia virus, two DNA viruses with different replication stategies. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regulation of adenovirus alternative pre-mRNA splicing : Functional characterization of exonic and intronic splicing enhancer elements

    Författare :Bai-Gong Yue; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; adenovirus; pre-mRNA splicing; splicing enhancer; MLTU; L1; SR protein; ASF SF2; E. coli; phosphorylation; dephosphorylation; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Pre-mRNA splicing and alternative pre-mRNA splicing are key regulatory steps controlling geneexpression in higher eukaryotes. The work in this thesis was focused on a characterization of thesignificance of exonic and intronic splicing enhancer elements for pre-mRNA splicing. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Regulation of CDK dephosphorylation in mitotic entry

    Författare :Arne Lindqvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cell cycle progression is orchestrated by the activity of a Cyclin dependent kinase (Cdk) in complex with a Cyclin. The key regulator of early mitotic events is the Cyclin B1/Cdk1 complex. In G2, Cyclin B1/Cdk1 is kept inactive by phosphorylation in the active site of Cdk1. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Molecular mechanisms regulating exocytosis : studies of insulin secretion and neurotransmitter release

    Författare :Lena Lilja; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cdk5; cell line; DARPP-32; dephosphorylation; exocytosis; inhibitor-1; insulin; islet; kinase; munc18; myotube; p35; p39; phosphatase; phosphorylation; PP1; presynaptic mechanisms; secretion; subcellular localization.;

    Sammanfattning : In order to achieve normal physiology the secretion of hormones and neurotransmitters needs to be firmly controlled. The basic molecular machinery mediating regulated exocytosis of hormones and neurotransmitters is in principal revealed, but knowledge about how the individual components are spatially and temporarily coordinated is limited.
