21. On Virtual Surgical Planning in Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery
Sammanfattning : The complex three-dimensional (3D) anatomy of the cranio-maxillofacial (CMF) region makes surgery a challenging task. Virtual surgical planning (VSP) has the potential to increase accuracy, reproducibility and shorten operation time. LÄS MER
22. Preterm Infants - Odontological Aspects
Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Preterm birth is associated with medical complications and treatments postnatally and disturbances in growth and development. Primary and permanent teeth develop during this postnatal period. LÄS MER
23. Tobacco smoking and vertical periodontal bone loss
Sammanfattning : Cigarette smoking is associated with increased prevalence and severity of destructive periodontal disease in terms of periodontal pocketing, periodontal bone loss, and tooth loss. The smoking destructive effect on periodontal bone may be of even "horizontal" or vertical "angular" pattern. LÄS MER
24. The Origin of Tooth Replacement : Three-dimensional Synchrotron Histology Visualizes the Dental Development of Silurian Stem Osteichthyans
Sammanfattning : Mechanisms of tooth replacement distribute incongruently among extant gnathostomes (jawed vertebrates): a permanent tooth-generating dental lamina exists in chondrichthyans (cartilaginous fish) and tetrapods but not teleosts, whereas tooth shedding by basal hard tissue resorption occurs in tetrapods and teleosts but not chondrichthyans. Theories about the evolution of tooth development have been biased towards the chondrichthyan conveyor-belt replacement, since there has been no fossil evidence for the origin of osteichthyan (bony fish and tetrapods) tooth replacement until now. 25. On Caries Prevention Using Fluoridated Toothpicks and Dental Flosses
Sammanfattning : The prevalence of approximal dental caries is still high worldwide in all age groups. The aim was to evaluate different aspects of fluoridated toothpicks and dental flosses in relation to caries prevention with the emphasis on the approximal area. LÄS MER
