16. Smoking, snuffing and oral health with special reference to dental caries
Sammanfattning : Background and aims: This thesis describes oral health and the use of tobacco with the emphasis on dental caries and Swedish snuff (snus). There appears to be a general opinion in Sweden that snus protects against caries, but there are no scientific studies that support these speculations. LÄS MER
17. Cell adhesion molecules during odontogenesis and tooth-related diseases
Sammanfattning : Cell adhesion molecules play essential roles in the development and disease of tooth and oral structures, as well as in the maintenance of adult tissue structure/function. It has been shown that different types of cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) play an important part in craniofacial development when ectomesenchymal cells migrate from the neural list to the primitive oral cavity, giving rise to the palatal processes and tooth germs. 18. On healing after periapical surgery and different retrograde root-filling materials. A clinical and histological study
Sammanfattning : Aims: The outcome from conventional endodontic therapy does not always result in a healing of the periapical area, thus leaving a remaining lesion with or without symptoms. The primary treatment alternative is a revision of the orthograde root-filling if applicable. A second treatment alternative might be a periapical surgery procedure. LÄS MER
19. On core and bi-layered all-ceramic fixed dental prostheses, design and mechanical properties : studies on stabilized zirconiumdioxide
Sammanfattning : Loss of teeth can affect a person’s self-esteem, social life, appearance and oral function. Reconstruction of a missing tooth has scientifically been shown to increase self-esteem and quality of life and to maintain oral function. For many patients a fixed dental prostheses (FDP) is preferred, either tooth- or implant-supported. LÄS MER
20. Monolithic and semi-monolithic translucent zirconium-dioxide restorations : aspects on design, material and strength
Sammanfattning : Although many clinical reports have shown high rates of clinical success associated with fixed dental restorations made of traditional zirconium-dioxide (zirconia), clinical failure due to improper design aiming to achieve high strength and optimal aesthetics, still occurs. Previous clinical and laboratory studies indicated that veneering porcelain and the connector represent the weak parts of the fully-veneered zirconia restorations where failure may occur. LÄS MER
