11. Salvadora persica (MISWAK) : an effective way of killing oral pathogens
Sammanfattning : Mechanical removal of dental plaque is regarded as an effective means of controlling the progression of dental caries and periodontal disease. The habitual use of chewing sticks (Miswak) as an oral hygiene method is still wildly spread throughout parts of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. LÄS MER
12. Acid Tolerance of Streptococcus Mutans Biofilms
13. Cariological Studies on Endodontically Treated Teeth
Sammanfattning : Caries might jeopardize the long-term successful outcome of endodontic therapy. Therefore, it is of an interest for the endodontist to evaluate caries susceptibility of root-filled teeth (RFT). In the present thesis, several studies were conducted to explore this relationship. 14. Re-evaluation of methods to identify individuals with increased risk of caries
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to evaluate methods used to identify individuals with increased risk of coronal caries lesion development. The specific aims were to:•evaluate the accuracy of different methods used to identify individuals with increased risk of developing dental coronal caries lesions (study I)•design and pilot a novel classification system for the assessment of caries lesion progression in bitewing radiography and to report rater agreement of the system (study II)•assess intra-individual differences in biofilm acid-tolerance between different tooth surfaces and inter-individual variation as well as stability of acid tolerance over time (study III)•assess diagnostic accuracy of two established methods and a candidate method to identify adolescents with increased risk of dental coronal caries lesion development (study IV).
