1. Structure and Mechanical/Transport properties of Single and Multilayer Polyethylene-based Materials
Sammanfattning : The current study discusses the structure, mechanical and transport properties of polyethylene-based materials into two parts. The first part deals with the migration and chemical depletion of active substance such as insecticides from moulded polyethylene sheets. LÄS MER
2. Interactions between polymers and the environment
Sammanfattning : This dissertation addresses the structure and properties of a number of polymer-based materials when they come into contact with specific environments. The first part describes the migration and depletion of active substances from insecticide-impregnated polyethylene sheets in water and air at different humidity levels and higher temperatures. 3. Preparation and Properties of Surface Modified Thin Polymer Films
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with preparation, modification and characterisation of thin polymer films. Most of the work has been performed using thin films of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) as a model system for systematic surface modifications by glow discharge plasma and UV/ozone treatments. 4. Consumption and loss of commercial stabilisers in polyethylene exposed to different natural environments
Sammanfattning : A procedure for the extraction and analysis of commercialstabilisers in low density and medium density polyethylene(LDPE and MDPE) films was developed and used to study theconsumption of stabilisers in polymers exposed to differentnatural environments. An ultrasonic technique was applied toextract HALS-3 (Chimassorb 944) from LDPE film and antioxidants(Irganox 1010 and Irgafos 168) from MDPE film. LÄS MER
5. Characterization of Conduction and Polarization Properties of HVDC Cable XLPE Insulation Materials
Sammanfattning : High voltage direct current (HVDC) cables with extruded insulation system were introduced in 1998. Since then this technology has been growing rapidly with many installations that are today operational at voltages up to 320 kV. LÄS MER
