  1. 1. Clinical probability assessment and biochemical markers in the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis

    Författare :Johan Elf; Malmö Klinisk koagulationsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Venous thrombosis; APC-PCI complex.; D-Dimer; Clinical probability; Diagnosis;

    Sammanfattning : The combination of pre-test clinical probability assessment and D-dimer test is now widely applied in the diagnostic process of DVT. The general objective of the present investigation was to validate these results in a Swedish routine emergency setting were the prevalence of the disease is high and were the clinical probability assessment was handled by many junior physicians. 2. 2. Treatment of deep vein thrombosis and risk of recurrent venous thromboembolism

    Författare :Per Lindmarker; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Deep vein thrombosis; pulmonary embolism; low molecular mass heparin; therapy; outpatients; recurrent; risk factors; APC-resistance; factor V G1691A; prothrombin G20210A; side;

    Sammanfattning : A cute deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) are different clinical presentations of the same underlying disease, namely venous thromboembolism (VTE), which is a common and potentially fatal condition. Risk factors associated with the first and probably also subsequent events of VTE are hereditary or acquired. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Venous thromboembolism. Aspects on risk factors, diagnostic tools and treatment with thrombin inhibition

    Författare :Karin Wåhlander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :deep vein thrombosis; pulmonary embolism; venous thromboembolism; Factor V Leiden; prothrombin gene G20210A; thrombin inhibition; ximelagatran; melagatran; PT; APTT; D-dimer.;

    Sammanfattning : Venous thromboembolism (VTE), comprising deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), is a multifactorial disease. The aims of the present thesis were to investigate Factor V Leiden and prothrombin G20210A mutations as potential risk factors for VTE during and after major surgery, to compare different D-dimer assays and evaluate their usefulness in the diagnosis of DVT, to investigate clinical effects, safety and pharmacokinetic properties of an oral thrombin inhibitor (ximelagatran) when treating VTE and finally to investigate the usefulness of coagulation assays (APTT and PT) during treatment with thrombin inhibition. 4. 4. Development of a Method to Measure Plasma Levels of Activated Protein C in Complex with Protein C Inhibitor

    Författare :Karin Strandberg; Malmö Klinisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; protein C inhibitor; activated protein C; hypercoagulability; deep vein thrombosis; Clinical chemistry; myocardial infarction; Klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Acute myocardial infarction (MI) and deep venous thrombosis (DVT) are conditions caused by thrombus formation with activation of the coagulation system. The plasma concentration of the complex between activated protein C (APC) and protein C inhibitor (PCI), APC–PCI complex is increased in such states. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Arterial Thrombosis in Factor V Leiden or Activated Protein C Resistance. Clinical and Experimental Studies

    Författare :Ellis Sampram; Malmö Klinisk koagulationsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Activated protein c resistance; Factor V Leiden mutation; thrombophilia; hypercoagulable state; Factor V Leiden mice; arterial thrombosis; venous thromboembolism; peripheral vascular reconstructions; peripheral vascular reconstruction occlusion;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The last two decades has seen an avalanche of studies establishing Activated protein C (APC) resistance due to Factor V Leiden mutation as the most prevalent genetic risk factor, yet known, for venous thromboembolism. This has been documented in 20-60% of patients with deep vein thrombosis (DVT). LÄS MER
