  1. 1. Sex, Molecules, and Gene control : Ecophysiological and evolutionary aspects of key sponge species from Antarctic shallow waters and the deep sea

    Författare :Vasiliki Koutsouveli; Paco Cárdenas; Anders Backlund; Ana Riesgo; Cassandra G. Extavour; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Porifera; Demospongiae; Geodia spp.; Phakellia ventilabrum; reproduction; gametogenesis; Antarctica; deep sea; sponge grounds; histology; molecular machinery; electron microscopy; RNA-seq; proteomics; lipidomics; Farmakognosi; Pharmacognosy;

    Sammanfattning : Very little is known about the ecophysiological aspects of Porifera (sponges) from Antarctica and North Atlantic, even though they are keystone components of these habitats. Being the earliest diverging metazoan lineage, sponges also play a fundamental role in our understanding of animal evolution. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Genome-Wide Studies of Transcriptional Regulation in Mammalian Cells

    Författare :Ola Wallerman; Claes Wadelius; Jussi Taipale; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ChIP; ChIP-chip; ChIP-seq; transcription factors; motif discovery; nucleosome positioning; HepG2; genome-wide; RNA-seq; Medical genetics; Medicinsk genetik; Medical Genetics; Medicinsk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : The key to the complexity of higher organisms lies not in the number of protein coding genes they carry, but rather in the intrinsic complexity of the gene regulatory networks. The major effectors of transcriptional regulation are proteins called transcription factors, and in this thesis four papers describing genome-wide studies of seven such factors are presented, together with studies on components of the chromatin and transcriptome. Sammanfattning : A central aim of fundamental research is to create conditions necessary for fueling further research and innovation. Our understanding of basic biology is central for future developments of tools for diagnosing, monitoring, and treating disease. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Measurable residual disease and clonal evolution in acute myeloid leukemia with focus on NPM1-mutations

    Författare :Louise Pettersson; Lund Patologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; AML; MRD; Measurable residual disease; NPM1; NPM1-mutation; NPM1 type A mutation; clonal evolution; clonal patterns; subclones; genetic evolution; qPCR; RQ-PCR; ddPCR; deep seq; deep sequencing; NGS; RT-qPCR; old; elderly; MFC; flow cytometry;

    Sammanfattning : Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most common form of acute leukemia in adults, with mutations in the NPM1 gene occurring in almost one third of all cases. The ability to detect residual leukemia below the resolution of conventional microscopy is crucial for evaluation of relapse risk after therapy. LÄS MER
