  1. 21. 100 million years of shark macroevolution : A morphometric dive into tooth shape diversity

    Författare :Mohamad Bazzi; Per Ahlberg; Matt Friedman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sharks; Macroevolution; Extinction recovery dynamics; Geometric Morphometrics; Morphospace-Disparity Framework; Teeth; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Organismal Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär organismbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Few vertebrate clades exhibit the evolutionary longevity and versatility of sharks, which constitute nearly half of all current chondrichthyan biodiversity and represent an ecological diversity of mid-to-apex trophic-level predators in both marine and freshwater environments. The rich fossil record of shark teeth from Mesozoic and Cenozoic rocks also makes the group amenable to large-scale quantitative analyses. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Strength of Stabilised Soil - A Laboratory Study on Clays and Organic Soils Stabilised with different Types of Binder

    Författare :Helen Åhnberg; Byggnadskonstruktion; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materiallära; Material technology; Hållfasthet; Geoteknik; Stabiliserad jord; materialteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Stabilisation of soft soils by deep mixing with binders is the most frequently used method of ground improvement in Sweden today, and is increasingly being used internationally. The most common binders employed are cement and lime, but a variety of other binders may also be used for stabilisation of soils. LÄS MER

  3. 23. The thermohaline circulation during the Last Glacial Maximum and in the Present-Day climate

    Författare :Maxime Ballarotta; Kristofer Döös; David Stevens; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ocean model; circulation; LGM; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : The thermohaline circulation (THC) corresponds to the large time- and spatial-scales ocean circulation associated with the transport of heat and salt, and is known to be an important factor controlling the climate variability. The large scales involved in the THC make it difficult to observe, and therefore the synergy of numerical models and climate proxy reconstructions is particularly relevant to study the characteristics of this circulation in the present and past climates. 4. 24. The molecular chaperone CCT: Functions beyond folding

    Författare :Josefine Vallin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TRiC; Chaperonin; CCT oligomer; CCT monomer; cancer; p150Glued; gelsolin; STAT3;

    Sammanfattning : The chaperonin-containing tailless complex polypeptide 1 (CCT) is a eukaryotic ~1 MDa barrel shaped molecular chaperone, built up by eight distinct subunits and is required for the folding of the abundant cytoskeletal proteins actin and tubulin. CCT exists as an assembled oligomer, micro-complexes and as individual subunits in the cell. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Assessing future effects on lake ecosystem resilience using data analysis and dynamic modelling : Modelling the effects of extreme weather events and climate warming on lakes

    Författare :Jorrit P. Mesman; Bastiaan W Ibelings; Stéphane Goyette; Don C Pierson; Karsten Rinke; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Extreme events; Storms; Modelling; Climate change; Thermal structure; Phytoplankton;

    Sammanfattning : Extreme weather events can have short-term and long-term effects on lake thermal structure, nutrient dynamics, and community composition. Moreover, changes in lake variables induced by global climate change may influence the response and recovery of lake ecosystems to extreme weather events. LÄS MER
