    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to study mortality in individuals with onset of type 1 diabetes (T1D) in childhood and adolescence in Sweden, related to clinical characteristics such as metabolic control in childhood/adolescence and comorbidity.  Methods: All studies in this thesis were register-based observational studies using a nationwide and population-based quality register, the paediatric part of the Swe-dish National Diabetes Register (NDR), for identification and collection of clinical data of individuals with T1D diagnosed before 18 years of age.     Sammanfattning : Grief following a parent’s suicide has been called ‘the silent grief’: due to a prevailing stigma connected to suicide as a mode of death, the parent cannot be talked about. This silenced or distorted communication complicates grieving youths’ meaning reconstruction centred on the question of why the parent committed suicide – a question inevitably linked to queries of who the deceased parent was, and that ultimately triggers thoughts about who oneself has become in the light of this experience.     Sammanfattning : This thesis comprises studies on opiate overdose death, and focuses on evaluation of toxicological characteristics including the possible influence of abstinence and polydrug use for the fatal outcome. In order to identify and classify drug abusers, a screening method for several drugs of abuse was developed and applied on randomly selected autopsy cases. LÄS MER
