16. The decay of beauty quark to τ lepton and neutrino in the DELPHI experiment at LEP
Sammanfattning : Using 3.5 millions hadronic Z0 events collected during the LEP1 period at the DELPHI detector, the decays of b quarks to tvt have been searched for in both the inclusive and exclusive decay modes. The analysis technique is based on b-tagging, missing energy and identifications of t products. LÄS MER
17. Isomeric yield ratios in nuclear fission
Sammanfattning : Isomeric yield ratios (IYR), referring to the relative yield of the high spin states of a nucleus to the total yield of all observed states, is an observable of nuclear fission that has the potential to improve our understanding of the fission dynamics. Apart from that, systematic observations of IYRs can also contribute to other areas, such as the validation of fission models, modelling of the r-process in stellar nucleosynthesis, studies of the antineutrino mixing angle, the safety of present-day nuclear reactors, and the design of advanced reactor systems. 18. Probing the Standard Model Higgs boson in the WW decay mode with the ATLAS detector at the LHC
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerns an analysis to probe the Higgs boson in the H→WW(*)→lvlv decay mode, one of three analyses contributing to the discovery of the Higgs boson at a mass of mH = 125 GeV in July 2012. The dataset used are the proton-proton collisions collected with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider during 2012 at a centre of mass energy of 8 TeV, and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 13. 19. Predictions of Effective Models in Neutrino Physics
Sammanfattning : Experiments on neutrino oscillations have confirmed that neutrinos have small, but non-zero masses, and that the interacting neutrino states do not have definite masses, but are mixtures of such states. The seesaw models make up a group of popular models describing the small neutrino masses and the corresponding mixing. 20. Search for Charged Higgs Bosons in e+e− Collisions
Sammanfattning : Several extensions to the Standard Model predict the existence of charged Higgs bosons. This thesis describes the search for such a particle using the data collected by the DELPHI detector at the Large Electron Positron (LEP) collider at the European laboratory for particle physics (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland.
